Hey Folks,
as promised, here is the stained window glass design that I have created for our Sanguinius vs. Ka'Bandha duell.
I first cut some clear plastic sheet into shape so it fits in the window frame from the back, this way I minimize the distance to the window and get a more exact outline. After I have traced the outlines of the gothic window on the translucent sheet of plastic card I have used some red paint to fill the outlines. This way you can check against your desk light if the traced window fills the frame 100%. Because we are aiming for a very detailed window it is important to be as exact as possible.
I have scanned the red-colored window with 1200 dpi. and designed the stained glass window in Photoshop.
I made a few different iterations, I first digitally traced the big shapes of the window, making sure it fits when I print it out in 100% scale.
Once the shape fitted the window perfectly I started with the detailed design of the window. I took inspiration in some old games workshop blood angle iconography and combined it with some classic design elements of church windows.
Once I was happy with the design I did a few different color versions to be able to react to the models (Which are still unpainted atm).
I have printed it out in a copy shop on some clear foil using a laser printer.
I hope to add a bit more of a rippled glass texture with tamiya clear.
I also want to cut away a few of the glass elements and make it look more splintered and broken.
On the following 3 pages you can find the different color versions to print them o
Mike
