Chapter 51: One Plan Fails, Another Arises!

Seeing Uchiha Madara in pursuit, Uchiha Obito realized that their plan to seize control had essentially failed. He sighed internally, not overly regretful, thankful that it was only a Fire Style shadow clone that had been deployed and that it could dematerialize. Otherwise, had it been his real body that was hit just now, it would have been game over.

The fragile nature of the ninja profession was starkly evident – a moment's carelessness could lead to a deadly counterattack.

The shattered arm of the shadow clone reformed, returning to its original state.

This scene, witnessed by Uchiha Obito and Kakashi, was utterly astonishing. Logically, after being hit by such a powerful attack, Uchiha Madara should have been severely injured, if not worse. Yet not a single drop of blood was shed, which could only mean one thing: this wasn't Uchiha Madara’s real body but a shadow clone.

However, if it was just a shadow clone, how could it withstand such a strike and self-repair? What kind of jutsu was this? It seemed miraculous.

After recovering, Uchiha Madara’s gaze towards Uchiha Obito was unkind.

"What’s the matter, Obito?"

"Do you have a problem with me?"

"Weren’t you the one who said you were going to destroy Konoha? Have you accomplished that yet?"

"And why are you shouting at me?"

"As an intern of the organization, is this how you show respect to a senior?"

"Didn’t your parents teach you any manners?"

Knowing why Obito was angry enough to chase after him, but without any clear accusation laid out, only his hesitance was visible. So, Uchiha Madara didn’t hold back in his reproach, spicing his tirade with harsh criticism.

"I... you..."

Uchiha Obito was momentarily speechless.

Uchiha Madara’s retort made Uchiha Obito realize suddenly that he indeed had no reason to intervene in Madara’s actions toward Kakashi, unless he wanted to reveal his true identity to prove that Kakashi's Sharingan rightfully belonged to him. Only then would Obito have a reason to confront Madara.

But was Uchiha Obito willing to abandon the guise of ‘Obito’?

Caught off guard, Uchiha Obito found himself verbally floundering, unable to articulate a response.

"Alright, Obito! If there’s nothing else, don’t disturb me!"

Saying this, Uchiha Madara was about to do something unspeakable to Kakashi in front of Uchiha Obito.

"Wait!"

In desperation, Uchiha Obito cried out, stopping Madara’s actions.

"What now?"

Madara's face showed impatience as he coldly spoke.

"I... I..."

As Uchiha Obito stuttered, his mind raced to find a solution that wouldn’t reveal his identity.

Seeing Madara’s growing impatience, Obito blurted out a feeble excuse.

"Hahaha!"

"My apologies, senior Madara!"

"I heard that Konoha has an impressive copy ninja named Kakashi! I just wanted to see how strong he really is or if he’s just a waste!"

"So, senior Madara, could you let me handle Kakashi?"

Uchiha Obito, scratching his head, made a foolish request.

"No!"

Uchiha Madara refused flatly, causing Obito to slump in feigned disappointment.

"If that’s how it is, then forget it! Take care!"

Ending the conversation abruptly, Madara’s entire right arm transformed into magma, emitting smoke and intense heat.

Close enough to feel the searing heat, Kakashi thought his entire body might melt under the proximity of such power, signaling a clear intent to kill Kakashi.

"Damn it!"

Internally cursing, Uchiha Obito dared not provoke Madara further, continuing to smile subserviently.

"Wait, senior Madara. Just a moment."

"Your demand is too outrageous; I simply can’t meet it!"

"One hundred White Zetsu corpses!"

"Two Uchiha forbidden techniques of your choice!"

"Only one pair of Sharingan!"

"Hurry up!"

Uchiha Obito spoke quickly, fearing for Kakashi's life.

"Alright! It's a deal!"

Seeing a chance to conclude successfully, Uchiha Madara decided it might be wise not to push Uchiha Obito too far. Too much provocation could indeed accelerate Obito’s drastic actions towards the Moon Eye Plan.

Although he wasn't personally concerned about any confrontation, if Obito escalated his actions, it could prematurely force Obito into the role of Uchiha Madara, disrupting the meeting of the Five Kage.

As for Kakashi knowing Uchiha Obito’s true identity, that was a minor concern. Madara doubted Kakashi would recklessly spread that information.

Thus, the scene ended with Obito managing to secure a somewhat favorable deal, despite the high cost, a testament to his desperation to protect Kakashi – and perhaps, to protect his remaining ties to his past.
