I wish they had mentioned the mental health effects this incident hadโ€ฆ my dad was head of maintenance at a Canadian oil refinery and he scheduled some kind of test and made sure his favourite apprentice was there to learn. That apprentice died in a small explosion (inquest found it was faulty equipment and no one there that day was responsible - before the explosion there were no signs this might happen) in the 20 years since he has never been the same

This was a well done movie! Nice to see Gina Rodriguez in a role at the opposite of her role in Jane The Virgin. Such an underrated actress! About the polluted river in your region that you guys mentioned, last year in France there was a case of fishermen who discovered thousands and thousands of dead fish in a river one morning, turns out a company had dumped all their toxic waste there, during the night. I don't think they could identify who it was. Disgusting, shameful behaviour by those who care about nothing but money ๐Ÿคฌ

I worked for BP Alaska when this happened and it was rough. Needless to say I don't work for them anymore. But even though it didn't happen in Alaska, it was still a heavy for sure. Always is, when there is loss of life in this industry, doesn't matter where it happens. In todays world there should never be loss of life due to negligence or pressure knowing its the wrong call, but it happens. Humans are humans and sometimes humans suck. Mason I appreciate the shoutout to all of us that work in industries that do provide power, water etc. Oil industry has gotten a bad rap, but no matter what "clean" alternative they come up with, oil is still the basis of all of it. Gotta have it but during my career I know up here our entire world has changed in how we do this job. From safety, cleanliness, wildlife protection, etc. Again I think a lot of people just think of oil fields as nasty sticky dirty messes tearing up the environment and that's not the case. Deepwater was horrific for sure, but with these horrible events so much is learned and changed to prevent something like that from ever happening again. I tell people up here all the time, no job is worth a life, no stress on the job is worth a heart attack or stroke which those two are common. Everyone should be able to return home in the same shape or better shape than when they got to work.

Good for him!!! No one should let a job be more important than oneโ€™s life because they will replace you in one second, but your family will never, ever be the same.

Totally agree with Mason Quinnโ€™s comments here. If you feel unsafe while performing your job, itโ€™s probably NOT SAFE! Donโ€™t do something youโ€™re uncomfortable doing physically or morally just to satisfy upper management. My husband has been working for SLB, formerly known as Schlumberger for over 17 years now & heโ€™s had to learn the hard way. Management doesnโ€™t care about you & theyโ€™ll throw you under the bus in an instant if they need to save their own skin. Heโ€™s much happier now that heโ€™s learned to put his foot down & set his own time frame for his work (heโ€™s a machinist btw). Heโ€™s very skilled at what he does & management has learned not to tick him off bc other machinists donโ€™t even want to run his machines bc of how complex they are.

Wish you guys could have watched this with a good sound system. The main event is an incredible audio experience.

Hopefully this one isn't to hard for a normie to understand ๐Ÿ˜œ I know NOTHING about oils or rigs or even how to swim

I hate that no one was held responsible for this. Studying marine biology right now and the amount of dead animals on our shores because of our waste is becoming an annual thing which fucking sucks. Havenโ€™t seen this movie, but iโ€™m looking forward to watching as Iโ€™ve heard about how good it is!

I was living under a rock. No idea what this is about

Haven't seen this one in a while. About to watch right now. If you liked this, watch "Only the Brave" starring Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Jeff Bridges. That one hits you in the soul.

Let's gooooo!!
