DD brings up a good point, maybe Jokers could be season 3? Idk im watching along first time as well

Steven W

Ive been a week behind on too many posts, playing catch up :)

SHEESH!! Those Queens and Kings deserve well their title, they keep their head high even in defeat. Very royal and demure in their exit.

Rena Unnie

This is one of my favorite episodes. Especially the game with Chishiya (yes, brutal way to die, but the philosophical/moral discussion, etc., love that part 😂). It's so funny to me how hard you guys root for romance. I don't think I've ever seen a group of guys get so excited for a bit of hand holding in my life. Good stuff. This is as far as I ever got in the show, so next episode I'll be first time watch right along with you :)

Bluhawke

Great suggestion. I love My Name. One of my all time favourite shows. It doesn't really do anything groundbreakingly new, but it does everything else to perfection. I love Korean John Wick.

YESSSSS PLEASSEEE ICONIC SHOW

star

Thanks for the insight from the manga. I really like Chishiya’s backstory in the tv show.

WHY

I actually like Chishiya's backstory on the show more than the comic. There, he just has absolutely no idea how to feel for anyone. He only became a doctor because his father, who basically ignored Chisiya his whole life, was one. He didn't give one crap about anyone, not even his patients. He bordered on sociopathy. It does make something he does in a later episode/story beat make a bit more sense but I'm okay with it. The show backstory gives more depth to the game with KoD. They parallel more and it's better television.

Donna Castellano

Love you guys. I’m not sure if anyone suggested Netflix My Name. An 8 episode one off show that is badass won’t spoil anything but hope you guys give it a shot.

Robert Lopez

Amazing reaction from you guys! This was one of the best episodes of the season. GREAT CATCH: The guy Arisu saved from the bus in S1 E4, saved the King of Diamonds when he was a player, which led him to saved Chishiya in this episode. It beautifully speaks to morality in high-stakes situations. The backstory showing the King od Diamonds with Momoka (the witch) was so heartbreaking because her ideals were that people wouldn’t have killed each other the way we witnessed, but Niragi being so violent and psychotic, forced it into happening. I loved the societal issues this episode covered like wealth disparity and how it impacts court decisions, medical decisions, and everything in between. THE GAME WAS FAIR: it was fair because in the end the King did not decide whose life was worth saving, and whose life wasn’t. He chose self-sacrifice over determining the value of other people’s lives. The game was based on logic and numbers which made it as mathematically fair as possible. When it came down to him and Chishiya, he was able to finally conclude that determining whether Chishiya’s life is worth saving, wasn’t his decision to make, so he chose self-sacrifice. WOW. Beautiful and heartbreaking.

Chishiya

Amazing reaction from you guys! This was one of the best episodes of the season.

Chishiya

They tend to drop finales with the episode before it so I'm hoping they'll drop both next week. I did a double feature today and watched last week's too, but this is my ftw too.

Bri

Great reaction guys!! I also hate seeing the acid scene, but it makes it hard to forget I guess! I love Chishiya so much. You know both his and the King of Diamond's backstory are very rooted in our reality.. everyone in existence has had to have been effected by some other person's decision to value one life over another, especially when money is on the table. The show does a great job of addressing very real world issues and bringing them up to the characters (to the audience) and making them really decide on weather they wanna keep trying to return to someplace that is so awful to them and everyone else, if possible. Usagi deciding that she wants to return, even though that world is painful, is very emotional to me. It feels so real. The last three episodes here are just... fantastic. Loved this episode. I am very excited to see what you all think about the upcoming events in the final two.

Wonderxfull

Chishiya's backstory was even sadder in the manga and makes you understand him even more, I was sad they didn't show us more. But of course they changed a lot of things in the life action and his character overall is very different from the manga so I shouldn't compare🙃

Viivi

I agree but if it's the end and my death is going to be acid, I'm going to try and get that laser beam lol. Every time I watch it, I'm like do they not know/have never seen other people give up and get beamed? I'd try it even if it doesn't work. I agree, it is easily over looked. I just find, on my umpteenth rewatch, all the games that get dragged into multi episodes don't have a great payoff.

Megan

Me too! It sucks because it means the end until s3, but I am so excited for their reaction to the final episode. The story telling is so amazing and seeing people react to a specific part (avoiding spoilers for them) is my FAVORITE!

Megan

Yeah I see that a lot from other reaction channels - mean vibes, passive aggressive, making click baits titles or rage inducing comments, and even discrediting the efforts of the writers/directors by constantly doubting or questioning the logics and the reasonings of the writing without valid points or even illustrations, making judgments and disliking the show before even finishing the entire of it, or sometimes just criticising on things because they didn’t give it more thoughts/deeper thoughts or think from a different angle or perspective. I agree with you. But then I think the games are not just turning into heart games. I think wits, hearts/mind, physical and teamwork are actually intertwined and are all involved in most of the games (with some exceptions) though the psychological aspects definitely play an important part in every game. Very well said about human nature’s curiosity and the fight between corruption and integrity. You’ve put it well 👍🏻

WHY

I don't want to go into spoilers, but I believe it's totally possible giving the nature of Borderland. It's also possible that not everyone in Borderland knew that you can quit the game that way.

Dylan Hearts

I second that! S2 finale deserves more time to discuss things. I mean, I watched it a long time ago and still thinking about it, how you can wrap it up in just 15 minutes lol

Dylan Hearts

🤔 I don’t remember that players could just say “I quit” to get the laser beam. The only times were 1) when their visa is expiring at that point so when they said they quit the laser beam came down at the right time; and 2) the dealer somehow revealing their identity so they got the beam before the game ends. Otherwise, it would always be the designed way of death according to the game’s rules or laser beam after the game ends. I’d love to hear it if you could give me a specific example of the scenario you mentioned.

WHY

I mean you still want to live no matter what happens - laser or acid drop; plus when your emotions are overwhelmed by realisation of death coming at you in seconds, your brain just melts away (pun intended lol) in fear and panic. I agree that Queen of Spades game was slightly undercooked, but giving the consistency with which AiB provided to us high quality acting, directing and writing, this is such minor thing that I'm willing to overlook it, especially because second part of the episode was brilliant.

Dylan Hearts

I have seen a few reaction channels where people take notes, but while they do everything by book, they lack in the spirit: their reaction videos feels mechanical and superficial, you always can easily notice when they're watching something just because it's their "job", and not because they really eager to learn new things from stuff (for example, as Oak praised animation in Arcane series and come to cherish this genre more, or how they appreciated a different POV on well known social issues in The Help). I also love how positive Badd Medicine is even when they give low rating to films/series (recent example is Nosferatu where they rated it low, but it didn't felt as "This is a garbage, period" and instead was more like "Well, we were disappointed by it, but if you're enjoyed this kind of movie, good for you!"). There's no mean vibes from their analysis which I kinda get from some top reaction channels on YouTube where people expressing their opinions by downplaying the hard work filmmakers and TV showrunners gave to their work (it's not obvious at first, but the more you watch, the more you see between lines some passive agressive behavior; BM never went to this level of behavior, imo). In short, Badd Medicine is a great reaction channel because it does everything without baiting its audience and instead provides authenticity in their content. These are people that easily can be our neighbors, colleagues or friends, there are some trust level with these guys that can't be faked. Oh yes, all hearts games were awesome, but I think that every game ultimately can turn into a hearts game because in the majority of cases we chose what to do, how to do and why to do by our emotions, and not logic. Even Chishiya's decision to bet his life on King of Diamonds' morale ideals was an emotional decision rather than logical because it wasn't about numbers and rules, it was about human natures' curiosity that overrides instinct of self-preservation. King of Diamonds was ready to die for his ideals, while Chishiya was ready to die to know the answer to what wins in a fight between corruption and integrity, and in the end he kept his body, but lost soulful duel with King. Chishiya who kept doing favors in the hospital and grew corrupted mentality was destined to lose King of Diamonds game exactly because it was designed to be fair. That's the main irony of this game for Chishiya.

Dylan Hearts

One of my favorite episodes, I just love seeing Chishiya at play! Him being a doctor was a major surprise to me as well, he seems unbelievably smart even for a doctor. I was thinking he was some type of mathematician and/or con man (not necessarily bad, like Akiyama in Liar Game, iykyk) because he is so good at reading people and situations. I like the tag game, I was just disappointed with the ending. I wish we had a little bit more battle during the Queen's final round. Like, I think it was Answer who said if you just had one more than the other team, then they would've all willingly gone to blue because then their death is guaranteed on red. Red/the Queen plaid it too safe her final round. She let her desire for Arisu lose her the game. I would 1000% lose the scale game, math is not my thing. Maybe I'd get lucky and take others out first because my strategy would purely be "eeny meeny miny moe" 🤣🤣🤣. Zero logic on my end. So I'd either make it to the final 3 or be the first one out, no in-between lol. Even though this wasn't an intense game, just high stakes, like the rest, it somehow is my favorite. Chishiya is brilliant here. I do wonder why none of the players tried to say "I quit" before the acid fell. Last season, it was enough to get a red beam. So unless they suspended it or it just wouldn't work because you already lost and will die. But I would have tried it so I could be taken out in a nano second vs the realistically minute or so it took for the acid to end you.

Megan

I think this is the episode that stuck with me most due to the issues it brought up and how it handled them. I mean the show overall is quite good, but this episode in particular stuck with me.

Jess

Yes! I would love to hear their thorough discussions. I would definitely not mind them going on for 2 hours or even more haha.

WHY

Literally can not wait for your reaction to the next 2 episodes. And just FYI I know that you guys usually try to put a cap on your discussion time at the end but I would literally watch you guys discuss episode 8 for 2 hours. So don’t worry about talking too long 😂

BlueJean452

absolutely agree! Love how they analyze the episode at the end and pay attention to the details and the story overall. There isn't many reactors who do that😊

Viivi

A little

Badd Medicine

Can someone tell me if this episode is gore? I want to prepare myself

Monalisa

I think the game was fair in that people chose their numbers based on their own reasoning, no matter what it may be. The weird older guy was a mathematician, the younger guy was a stock broker and the woman was a loan shark (at least in the comic they were and it seems the two guys were definitely those things here). They all chose numbers based on their ideals. That's all the KoD wanted - people to go out based on their own decisions based on their own ideals. He wasn't making the choices that led to their game overs, they were. Then Chisiya wasn't gonna play that game - he wanted the outcome based on KoD's ideals, not his own.

Donna Castellano

I’m with you Xiao. King of Diamonds is my favourite face card person. And I agree that this episode is full of messages and has the characters written so beautifully.

WHY

I agree with everything you said, Dylan. I’m always amazed by the little details of the show and at the level of writing which connects the details and explains so much about the characters in a very efficient storytelling. I’m with you. I’ve seen tons of reaction channels but Badd Medicine is the best reaction channel I’ve ever seen. Not just their reactions are entertaining but their thorough commentaries and analysis at the end are what makes their channel so great. The fact that they even takes notes jotting down the important things while watching just shows how they’re serious about reacting. I truly respect that. And yes, even though I would say Kind of Diamonds game is my favourite game with Jack of Hearts as my second favourite, in terms of episodes, the next two episodes are my absolute favourites of season 2!

WHY

The fact that Oak has mentioned at the end of every past episodes that the episode is his favourite episode so far just shows how great each episode is and how the show gets better and better episode by episode.

WHY

The actress for the Queen of Spades is very skilful and good at martial arts in real life, that’s why the fighting scenes of that game were so good. If you think the fighting scenes of this episode is good, wait till you get to episode 7 - the best action sequence I’ve ever seen.

WHY

Don’t worry, the kid stays with the lady who first found him in the game. Remember the lady in the house who gave the biscuits to Usagi? She’s there to take care of the kid.

WHY

It’s a beautifully written saving/sacrificing circle here. Arisu saved the injured leg guy on the bus in episode 4 of s1. The injured leg guy then saved the King of Diamonds. The King of Diamonds now sacrificed himself to save Chishiya. And more to come…

WHY

This is the best reaction channel I’ve ever seen for this show. I absolutely love you guys’ commentaries and analysis at the end. - We have Mason Quinn and DD who both greatly pointed out the dilemma - whether to go for something unethical and keep the hospital running to save more kids OR whether to do something more ethical by saving the kid in the right order but that might also risk the hospital being shut down. - We also have Oak giving a great analysis of the human nature and the extent or limit people would go all their way out just to survive as opposed saving other strangers who are not family members or loved ones. You never know what you’ll do until and unless you’re put in that situation. - We have also Answer there making a great comparison about the backstories of the King of Diamonds as the lawyer defending business/company against the victim whom the company made sick and Chishiya as the doctor saving (or not saving) the patients against the business/financial donor of the hospital. - We have again Mason Quinn there appreciating how Chishiya’s backstory explains a lot why he’s always so cold and nonchalant but pragmatic at the same time.

WHY

This was by far the best episode not just of the season but the series all together in my opinion that is. I absolutely lost my shit seeing when he had to give the bad news to the mom and the immediate follow up of all those letters. I had to pause and just let the tears flow after that for quite a while when I watched this episode. Great reaction as always guys, looking forward to next week.

I'm Batman

This episode has the heaviest critique of society and a reflection of how the world operates with one of the most important themes of the show: Fight for fairness and equality even though it seems impossible in the real world. Both the King of Diamonds and Chishiya’s backstories show how the world in reality works. One might think it’s totally unfair to allow the director’s friend’s kid to jump the line and hate that money talks for everything, but others might think differently and even accept the reality that without the financial support from the director, the hospital might not even be able to survive/ operate to save more kids. Whether you would abandon your ideals and sacrifice one patient to let the hospital survive to save more kids OR whether you would do it fairly to save the right kid in the order/list but risking the entire hospital going busted and not being able to operate anymore to save more kids is a debatable thing. Theoretically, no kid or human being’s life should worth more than the other but is it really the case in reality? I’m certainly not the right person here to comment which one is right or wrong because this would always be a debatable thing and everyone has a different ruler of standards. But it’s definitely not just a moral thing on one single person but something about the entire society. It just shows the cruel reality of how the world operates.

WHY

I'm so hyped for next sunday omg

Jennie 彡☆

Chishiya’s letting the King of Diamonds to decide because he knew (or bet) that since the King of Diamonds couldn’t decide/determine the value of life (at least not the value of everyone else’s life except for his own) because of his idealism that everyone should be equal and no one’s life is above the other’s/more valuable than another, so he equally couldn’t decide the value of Chishiya’s life or even his death here. Therefore, the King ended up choosing to end his own life, which is the only thing he could do, that is to decide for himself based on his idealism. So to be fair, King of Diamonds didn’t decide who lives and who doesn’t live in this world to make it a fair game. It’s exactly because he couldn’t decide for others their life or death that what he could do eventually is to only decide for himself his own life or death.

WHY

I could tell this was a hard watch for Oak 😭 the acid was a brutal death choice. Honestly this episode is one of my favourites. It's full of messages and fleshes out multiple characters so beautifully. I commend this show on its ability to turn a character (Kuzuryu) into one of the most well-written in just one episode. He's definitely my favourite face card person, seems the most humane and complicated. These videos are the highlight of my week! Can't wait for the Death Note ones as well ^^

Xiao

This show is great for rewatching, you see so many new things knowing what happened and constantly think "How I didn't notice this!" like with Chishiya always keeping his hands in the pockets which what doctors usually do, it's their professional habit; or how writers intentionally gave only Chishiya a white/beige dress similar to doctors white coat. I'm amazed at the level of writing explaining so much about Chishiya in a very economical storytelling, showing us two scenes in the hospital, and you don't need anything more to understand him. I watched a lot of TV, and AiB definitely in the TOP-10 of the best written shows of all time (on par with Dark, Mad Men, Deadwood, etc.). I also have to say that Badd Medicine is the best reaction channel you can find, always so entertaining and thoughtful, giving us real and sincere opinion which is rare (again, I watched enough reaction channels to make judgment about it) and should be valued with respect. I'll support this channel as long as I can, it's awesome to see these calm and fun discussions and to see the variety in what the guys watching, being open to suggestions and discovering so many great things from every nation in the world. AiB made me interested in Japanese culture (from literature and cinema to other mediums of arts and history), you can't underestimate the influence of great art, it gives you mental growth. Next two episodes are my favourites, it resonated with me so much. Awesome, awesome stuff! Can't wait for next sundays!

Dylan Hearts

this episode is my favorite

LailaS

When you found out Chishiya was a doctor and said "that explains a lot," I was thinking, that explains why he always has his hands in his pockets! Lol

Ellie

Jokers? Lets survive the most awaited episode 7 first. Excited for next week!!!

Mari

I appreciated this episode more on my 2nd watch, and ever since then it became one of my favorites. It just really covers the themes that we have to face now in the modern era, specially with what's going on now in the world. Another boss who isn't necessarily malicious, trying to have a fair game in an unfair world he was thrusted in. Although granted, he could have chosen a less horrific way for players to die other than being pored with acid lol. It's also freaking hilarious how much you guys are shipping for arisu/usagi haha I cannot wait for the next episode! It's gonna be epic!

Bunnie

i'm so waiting for the two next sundays

Maelyra

I don’t think you guys are ready for these last two episodes. Took off the next two Sunday’s so that I’m ready as soon as they drop!

Alex Lutz

I find it so ironic that Chishiya was a doctor and Arisu and Karube were looking for a doctor for Chota in season 1 during that tag game that Chishiya was in with them

maiya

Please watch Into the Woods (2014) I really think you guys would enjoy it ❤️

Emily G

Yay forgot today was Sunday 💜 lets get it.
