Gotta be honest I haven't really followed anything DC for years now. I'm more interested in the Christopher Reeve documentary that I still haven't seen.

2024-12-21 23:46:53 +0000 UTCNot excited because I'm burnt out on the superhero movies in general and especially of reboots. I loved the Reeves movies. Loved Man of Steel (thought they should have stopped there, as much as I love Henry Cavill), and from what I've seen of clips, the CW superman show is going well. Why are we doing this again? Can we at least get a decade between reboots? Let people get hungry for the characters again? But I'm happy for the people who do want it. Hopefully, it turns out well.

2024-12-21 16:43:52 +0000 UTCI watched the trailer but I'm not excited about this. Superman's story has been done to death that there is no longer an excitement whenever a "reboot" happens. Same with Batman. DC literally only have those 2 as their popular heroes and I get that, but I would be more excited if they do a Martian Manhunter movie (he's my fave) or another continuation of Wonder Woman. Or heck, I'd happily watch a live action Superpets movie.

2024-12-20 15:10:07 +0000 UTCAs a life long Superman fan I am not terribly excited for this. I've watched every iteration even the ones before Reeves, read the comics from time I was 9. There is something about this trailer that just isn't hitting it for me. 🤷♀️ I'm thrilled for everyone else that is excited for July to come, but I'm going to be a bit more reserved in my expectations. Even with Gunn at the helm. Truth be told I'll be super happy to be proven wrong about this.

2024-12-20 15:01:27 +0000 UTCAlso the Justice League cartoon and Justice League Unlimited cartoon are great shows that introduce you to a lot of DC stuff. I watched it as a kid and its a great base to get to know a bunch of different heroes. Their highly regarded and worth the watch

He usually is portrayed as more of a generic lab looking dog but James Gunn said he based to look off his own dog which was a rescue that he said changed his life for the better, so he wanted to share that with everyone on screen.

Also love that they are including Mr Terrific. All my knowledge of him is coming from the Arrowverse but definitely can’t wait to see how they expand on him here.

2024-12-20 08:04:36 +0000 UTCAs pro-wrestlers, I’m sure you’ll appreciate knowing that Superman was made with the trunks on the outside originally because the creators wanted him to appear as a wrestler/circus strongman. When Gunn was making the costume, he was almost dead set on not using the trunks. But David Corenswet, the actor playing Superman, told Gunn, that Superman is supposed to be trying to appeal to children, that the trunks are there to show that he’s a good guy like pro wrestlers are. Since he’s an alien kids might think he’s scary, so the trunks and bright colors are an intentional part of his costume to show he’s not a bad guy. When Gunn heard this, he said trunks all the way. Not only does it show Gunn is willing to listen, but Corenswet has done his homework, and myself as a HUGE Superman and wrestling fan appreciate the attention to detail. Just a little tidbit!

Also you guys kind of touched on this, but James Gunn wanted that first shot in the trailer to be of a beaten and bloody Superman to represent the current state of America. "It's about the basic kindness of human beings, and that it can be seen as uncool and undersiege [by] some of the darker voices are some of the louder voices." (also Smallville mention in 2024, LETS GO!)

The actor playing Superman, David Corenswet, was the one who suggested using the trunk suit and making the suit brighter. Jason Fillion portrays Guy Gardner from the Lantern Corps, and then there’s Mr. Terrific, the one you see with the shield while getting shot; it's not Cyborg so you rest assured of that quin. Then we also have Hawkgirl. I believe the character at the end was Metamorpho.

2024-12-20 05:38:24 +0000 UTCSo all the main characters seen in this video are Superman, Lois, Lex Luthor, Krypto, Pa Kent, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Hawkgirl, Metamorpho (weird looking dude with blue eyes), Ultraman (the guy running through a wall and fighting Superman in the stadium), Mister Terrific (dude with the black “T” mask on his face). We’re also a some point getting The Engineer, Supergirl and Rick Flag Sr, supposedly.
