Watched this for the first time when I was a freshman in high school as part of a class assignment, and every single time I've rewatched it since then it's message has become even more meaningful to me--one of my absolute favorite films of all time for sure. Thank you so much for such an entertaining and thought-provoking reaction and commentary as always <3

Ayda Akgun

This was a first time watch for me, this movie isn't that big of a classic here in France. As someone who has been dealing with depression and in some instances some really dark thoughts, this movie definitely hit me in the feels. It has a serious emotional depth but also all this humour that, like you said, has aged really well. I can see why after almost 80 years (!!) the movie is still popular. I enjoyed discovering it with your reaction 👍

Aria Isara

I needed those last few minutes Oak thank you

Alexander Alayon Jr

i'd never seen this and frankly never planned to but YAY i'm so glad that i watched with you guys! how fun and great commentary/reaction throughout. this was full of heart and fun

Vonnie Stewart

I really hope you guys eventually put this reaction on YouTube, this movie is so special and I appreciate you guys so much for making my month watching this thank you!!!!

I'm in my 50s and I saw this for the first time about 5 years ago, I make sure I watch it every Xmas time ever since, this year I'm watching it along with you fine gentlemen. For me, it's kinda of a good "reset" at the end of the year. Helping me relax and realize just how "blessed" I really am. It's easy to go through the year and letting stress and life get you down and it's easy to forget the things that truly matter. This film is like the end of the year cure for me. Thanks for watching this and sharing it here with us. When Oak said it's funny the cast a guy that looks 40 as a college student, technically he's not that age in the film. Remember he complained to his pop that his friends from high school were already finishing up college and he hadn't started yet cause he stayed to work and save money for it. Then he sent his brother for 4 years, by the time Oak said that so he was more than likely supposed to be in his 30's then. He was 37 when he filmed this. So it's about right. As for the "old Maid" back then any woman over the age of 26 and not married was considered that. it's a different world today for sure

Ryan Towell

I don't value me at all really. But I know others do, because they tell me. Even as recently as today. That has to be enough, right?

Amy Silknitter

Hell yes to 12 Angry Men. Absolutely incredible film.

Jeff K

That's how I felt too lol, my dad and my sister always watched it and I just picked up on certain parts. Somehow my mom still hasn't seen it. I described to her the premise and she was like: That sounds good! I'm like yeah, I know you'd love it lol. She made me watch Gone With the Wind too!

Bri

I love the sound of music! The other day I was introducing my 5 yr old to songs from that, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Mary Poppins. This was after watching The Princess Diaries movies lol.

Bri

Growing up my dad and my sister LOVED this movie, but for the longest time it never held my attention. I think I finally absorbed enough to know the main premise and the ending but had never pieced together the bank and the business man plot, or that he was going to kill himself to get life insurance, I had just thought he was depressed. So it was nice rewatching this as an adult and I get why my family likes it so much. Mary really was that girl and their relationship was so sweet. Black and white films still don't really keep my attention so I actually watched the restored color version alongside y'all, a new experience for me and I liked how it looked.

Bri

ALSO if I could request one Christmas movie for you guys to react to - can you please watch The Family Stone?! That is my absolute favorite Christmas movie hands down.

JoBean

Thank you guys for this wonderful reaction. This is one of my moms favorite annual Christmas movies and it hits a little different every year. It definitely transcends time and continues to convey the importance of friends, family and community 🤍

JoBean

finally lol this movie is the best

Cason

First time watching and what a movie. I cried at the end along with you guys, what a powerful message 🥹 you guys should watch 12 Angry Men, the sound of music and who's coming to dinner (the last one has also a powerful speech towards the end) Amazing reaction !

L AH

I've never seen this movie. The only footage I've seen is from Home Alone when the rest of the kids were watching this in french at the hotel.

Sarah.the.clumsy

I think this is the first time I've watched this movie all the way through. My parents always watch this on Christmas Eve so I've probably seen all the parts at some point. I definitely remembered when he asked why they have all these kids because my parents would quote it (in a joking way of course) because I have a lot of siblings. This was an excellent movie. It just shows how great stories are timeless because people will always be people. Oh and I think everyone's mom wants them to watch Gone With the Wind. I watched it when I was a teenager, but I actually liked it and not just because of Rhett Butler, although that was a factor :).

yrag

Loved the film, emotions hit hard, although my head/thoughts are a bit messed up at the moment but keep pushing through it lol, trying to decide if certain scenes were a good idea to watch, overall feeling like it was especially the reminder of how if I wasn't here it would affect everyone else, definitely glad I got to share the first time experience with all of you😊 love you all🥰 thanks for the entertainment it really helps😊

Zoe S

Definitely check out some other jimmy Stewart movies; also check out some John Wayne movies if possible

Official Backwoodz Logan

I thought I had seen this but realised quickly watching with you guys that I hadn't. Cried right along with you, what an amazing movie and I get why it's such a classic. I'll be watching this every year from now on!

Natacha Pedersen

Hands down one of the best reactions to this movie. Well done guys

Habman

Jimmy Stewart made this while suffering significant PTSD from being a WW2 bomber pilot and leader. Making this movie was his therapy.

Harlee

Such a classic

Official Backwoodz Logan

i wasn’t crying, and then i looked up and saw the tears in oaks eyes and they started welling up in mine too. amazing reaction as always!

wren

Yep I agree with you Answer! Watched this movie a hundred times throughout my childhood and enjoyed it. As an adult watching this… I’m a blubbering mess 😂

TeawithIrohPearls

Beautiful movie and reaction. I cry every time I watch this and also performed in a community theater version of the show with the other 5 members of my family when I was 12 (dad played George). Thank you for those wonderful words Oak <3 Happy holidays everyone!!

Elora D. Dragneel

So happy yall loved it, fantastic movie

Steven Warner

The myth is that Bert and Ernie were named after the IAWL characters. The Henson company has said on a few occasions it's a complete coincidence. No one was specifically thinking of those characters when the names Bert and Ernie came up. They just liked the way they sounded together.

Donna Castellano

Just finished the movie but haven't watched y'alls wrap up yet... I grew up watching this movie and always loved it. As I grew into adulthood I realized more and more the meaning, and I've watched and cried through this movie innumerable times. The way it hits me changes year to year as I age. It's hard out there, especially this time of year... All love to y'all and everybody watching along.

JLee

It lapsed into public domain in the 70s so any network could show it whenever and how ever much they wanted/needed.

JLee

Regarding your last point: yeah, the movie was a bomb and, amazingly, pretty poorly received by critics. It wound up being played on TV because it was cheap, and that's when it became a classic.

Jeff K

A few facts: -Mr. Potter is Drew Berrymore’s relative. - When his Uncle “falls” that’s actually someone dropping equipment and the actor said that. They kept it. - The movie came out in the summer and flopped bad. It wasn’t until I think CBS put it on TV and people loved it years later

JD Galbraith

Fine feathered friends and foes 🫡

Steven Warner

What an amazing movie, highly enjoyed it. Ending had me bawling my eyes out. And while Heidi is still my all time favorite Christmas movie this is a very close 2nd. Definitely gonna be a yearly watch when the Christmas season starts. And even though I just watched it today I'm rewatching this on either Christmas eve or Christmas day.

I'm Batman

What a wonderful message from Oak at the end. It’s been a very difficult year and that message meant a lot. ❤️ Thank you for all your hard work and wonderful videos guys!

Emily G

I knew you guys would love this. I’m bummed DD wasn’t in the reaction but I hope he sits down at some point to watch it anyway! Best movie ever made!

Kel

I knew Oak would tear up, but I never expected all 3! Such is the power of this movie. 💗 Something really important that Capra did in this film, not a lot of people realize, is that the bad guy never faces consequences. Potter knew who the money belonged to and he kept it. Stole it. He got to go on like nothing happened AND kept the money. While that sucks and makes you feel enraged, it's also incredibly realistic. People like him often get away with things like that in everyday life. Capra left it as is, and it serves as a reminder that we can't control what other people do or their nature. We control ourselves and hold responsibility for what we do in life. George reaped what he sowed, blessings. He has such a wonderful life because he spreads his good nature and what little wealth he has with others. Potter is monetarily rich, but is still a miserable miser that covets what George has. He will never be happy with what life gives him. While it would have been nice to see Potter get his comeuppance, Capra left it to karma in the end. Wishing ill upon even mean people does nothing but bring ill feelings to yourself. Who wants that weighing them down when life is just waiting to be lived? 🩷💛🩵

Oak in the post-movie discussion talking about how we look at our parents and grandparents and just assume they're squares or whatever: imagine my surprise learning my dad was the captain of the football team, captain of the basketball team, class president, went to prom with a girl who ended up being a soap opera star, and got accepted to an Ivy League school (but couldn't go because he was from a pretty poor family and couldn't afford it). It's just wild and like, "Wait, dad, who the fuck ARE you??"

Jeff K

I figured it out I accidentally clicked on the wrong version I had the abridged for tv version I didn't know there was 2 on prime

Megan Burland

If it’s cold where you are, stay warm! 🥶

A cup of hot cocoa, my favorite holiday movie, and Badd Medicine on a Friday night….it doesn’t get any better than this!

Lauren

Oh, and while George Bailey couldn't fight in WW2, Jimmy Stewart did, and he retired from military service as a brigadier general. (And this was obviously while he was a Hollywood star; he was the first actor to enlist following the outbreak of WW2 and eventually retired from the service in 1959.)

Jeff K

No way, that’s Alfalfa???? How did I live this many years and never know that?

Kel

I am SO excited for this!!! Let’s go!

Kel

I think this is such an important film and resonates today. Especially during the holidays (when you consider that rates of people taking their lives spikes during this time). As someone who has been where George was (as I’m sure many people have been), this is a great reminder that your life has meaning and people love you. Depression is very good at lying to you and tricking your brain. What your feeling are just feelings, not facts, and no feeling is final. Sending out love to all of you and to everyone at Badd Medicine: you are loved more than you know! Hugs!

Kaley

The "Why don't you stop annoying people?" guy talking to Mary at the dance is a grown up Alfalfa from the Little Rascals, by the way. Also, Mr. Potter is Drew Barrymore's great-uncle. Speaking of Mr. Potter - SNL did a sketch with the "long lost alternate ending" to this movie with Jon Lovitz as Mr. Potter and Dana Carvey as George. Highly recommend looking it up, it's absolutely hilarious.

Jeff K

Yesssss black/white version is the way to go 🤙🏻

Steven Warner

WOOHOO! I’m so excited 😆 can’t wait to cry lol! ❤️
