Weekly Update March 3rd, 2025

Howdy Patrons,

Guess who is recovering! I was pretty off the ball last week after getting knocked down by a decent cold. Thankfully I took a restful weekend and am recovering well with only a mild sniffle left to show for it. With that I am back on the ball this week.

Most of today has been spent catching up on the pieces that fell through the cracks last week, chiefly the production of the video on Great Circle Earthworks. With this planned on being our next video, the whole team has been balls to the wall on trying to get it ready for launch hopefully this coming weekend. This video is one that the scope just ballooned out of proportion and has taken much longer than any of us had hoped.

Thankfully we do have the studio sections complete and on the team watch through/review this morning we have a good list of what it is that needs to be done this week. I have been working to try and incorporate model shots of a miniature 3D print I made of the site, but filming it has been a pain in the ass. There is a reason probe lenses aren’t used for filming that often.

As my team focuses on the post production of Great Circle Earthworks, I am working on some scripting for some hopefully shorter videos that will be rolling out afterwards. I have been trying to find ways to increase our consistency and I think my downfall is the videos spending too long in every step. I hope that by covering some smaller sites and topics I can still be super verbose, but the video will be 20 mins instead of 50. Currently I am working on scripting a video on the Great Raft, a massive log jam that dammed 160+ miles of the Red River for almost a thousand years. It's a neat feature and something I don’t think any YouTuber has talked about yet.
