Weekly Update Feb 17th, 2025

Howdy Patrons,

This week my team and I are still working double time on the upcoming video on Great Circle Earthworks. It is coming together splendidly! There are two major parts of this video that have delayed its release by a little bit.

Firstly: a map. My team and I have been working to up our map game, but are having a hard time doing what we want to without spending 10 grand on QGIS programs and things. So we have found a clever workaround. For this video I decided to go back to basics and make a miniature site model to film with a macro lens to use as our frame of reference for the site. Last week I made and 3D printed a model of the earthworks that we will use for this upcoming video and even got a crazy looking macro lens. I think this will be a more timely, cost effective, and way more endearing solution to the map problem.

The second thing we have been working on is a beautifully drawn site map for me to use as a teaching aid in the video so I can point sites out blackboard style as I talk about it. This will make the set a bit more dynamic and also be a nice way of incorporating maps into it. I also thought it would be really fun to have the map be available for viewers to get for themselves so we are working on a really nice map poster pack to come out with the video. Yall know how I feel about merch, so I want to make sure that this is a really beautiful piece of art that people will be proud to have in their home. I have been encouraging my team to really take their time with all sections of this since I want to set a high bar precedent for upcoming videos on these sites.

Since I have been trying to be really intentional about this release, I have decided to do another quick, shorter video for this coming weekend where I will be doing some on the fly destruction of my instagram reels algorithm with terrible conspiracies. It'll be a fun more goofy one in the interim while we get the other videos all set up.
