Bleach and One Piece were the 2 others that I had heard about because they were that big, even someone knowing nothing about mangas and anime like me knew the names. This will be my first anime as I haven't had time to start AOT yet.

2024-11-25 16:42:19 +0000 UTCyes that is true, if you are simply a casual watcher. but i feel like as these guys are a dedicated reaction/review channel, its only right to watch the show in the language that its made in. changing languages for convenience in this situation is just a bit strange to me. You can still absolutely understand a show just fine with subtitles. Are subtitles too difficult or something?

2024-11-25 16:29:40 +0000 UTCHonestly the weird thing is watching a show in a language you don't understand. Even Japanese people being interviewed on the street have commented this. They watch American movies and cartoons and stuff in their own language because that's natural to do so. The only exceptions are when they understand English themselves or are trying to learn it.

Imagine watching avatar last airbender in another language. wether or not you knew english, you are missing out on the original voice actors casted for the show. Voices like aang's, katara's, iroh's, zuko's and azula's. saying that its just animated characters flapping their mouths up and down is undermining the original voice actors of the show.

2024-11-25 16:27:08 +0000 UTCofficially liscensed or not, the voice actors for the dub were not casted nor directed by the original creators of the show. the creators of the show have almost no input into the dub. they just release their show in japan and completely outsource the dub voice actors to 3rd party dubbing companies. obviously you have to read manga in english since you cant read japanese but the voices in your head are completely different to the ones on the screen.

Just go read manga if you want purity, oh wait you cant unless you know japanese otherwise it has to be translated to english which means the voices you imagine the characters speaking in are in english (oh noo)

It's one of the best book-to-screen adaptations I've seen in years. The show is based on the 'Souls Trilogy book series by Deborah Harkness. It has three short seasons. In my opinion, this show's writing, directing, filming, and acting are some of the best digital has to offer today.

2024-11-25 15:43:00 +0000 UTCpls dont, watching shows in the original language they are made in is better i think. i feel like its just weird to choose to watch a japanese show thats made in japan by japanese people with a japanese animation company with a japenese director with japanese voice actors thats based on a japanese manga where the story takes place in japan written by a japanese person in ENGLISH done by a 3RD PARTY dubbing company (unless you have some sort of reading issue with subtitles of course) (or if youre just putting it on in the background or something)
