The more you get through the show, the more you’ll find out this is complete different from Squid Game. The only similarity is they involve death games. Other than that, nothing’s the same. The characters are different, the types of games are different, the world they’re at and the setting are all different, even the lessons, the theories behind and the themes of the show are different. The fact that AIB came much before SG speaks volumes. The director/writer of SG even acknowledged himself/herself that he/she’s a big fan of AIB so if anything similar, SG actually took some of the ideas from AIB (the death game concepts and even some of the childhood games ideas from season 1 of AIB).

WHY

That’s so true. Chota was not really in the moment. He’s actually praying for his friends, Arisu and Karube there. I would like to think that Chota actually saw the parallel between his mom and Shibuki - both were using/giving up their bodies in a way to gain something. Chota clearly knew that Shibuki was trying to manipulate him and separate them or break their friendship to her advantage. And this is actually reflected in episode 3 where Chota was preventing Shibuki from chasing Arisu. Chota had always been the one who’s there for his friends and had never fallen for Shibuki because he’s seen his mother doing it.

WHY

The cultist church is a reference to a real thing in Japan where they convinced people to donate life saving. That's why Abe their president was assassinated cuz he knew about it and didn't do anything. The shooter owns mother I think was a victim

Wait it's been already a week since you posted ep 1? wtf 😭 Anyway, I enjoyed this episode. Like you I'm guessing (since I know nothing about the show) that the only possibilities are 1) they're plugged into a computer and it's an *actual* VR game, 2) they've been thrown into another dimension that is mostly a copy of ours but without the people and the participants are being tested for their survival skills, or some energy is being harnessed from them, but it would be too much like the Matrix I guess... Both 1 and 2 would explain why not everyone arrived at the same time. But the problem with the VR hypothesis is, as Diamond Dave said, when were they plugged in? Because the bathroom scene had no cut. Unless what we saw was a fake memory implanted in them... Or 3) it's the real world and aliens did something lol. Or 4) they're all dead and it's purgatory 💀 Unlike Mason the reason why this happens is more interesting to me than the games themselves.

Best boy has arrived, guy in the white hoodie is my favourite character, his entire personality is the word "condescending". We met three people based on Alice in Wonderland characters in this episode, I'm not gonna point them out until we meet the rest but I will say now, Arisu is Alice, and I didn't know this myself until earlier but Karube and Chota is apparently Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum.

Just so you know, I renewed my subscription, after I solved few issues with my tech, just because you are watching this show now. It is a great one, and a story that develops in a very coherent way through the two seasons that aired already and I must say it’s funny to speculate but until the very last episode I couldn’t predict anything lol

This is one of my favorite shows and I’m so stoked that you guys are watching it😭 the thing about this one, it was originally a WEBTOON, similar to Sweet Home (another AMAZING show on Netflix) that got a live action adaptation. While Squid Games is a Netflix Original, so I can see where the similarities lie. They are both based on survival games where your life(s) literally depend on if you win or lose. Tag is one of my favorite episodes. I love Usagi and was rooting for her the entire time after she jumped over the ledge the very first time. She played it smart unlike the one girl who waited to run until AFTER the seeker reloaded the gun. And I hate the girl from game 1 who is now putting the moves on Chota. Every time I watch this show, I remember how much I hate her. Even first watch, I hated her on her introduction. You could tell she isn't someone to be trusted.

I don't think they can because of copyright issues. They shouldn't really do the 48 hour thing either, but it's unlikely they will face any problems doing that since before copyright stuff can be a problem the upload is gone. I really enjoy the uncut thing though. It's nice not having to sync up. Plus I can sit in bed and watch on my phone instead of sitting at my PC.
