2024-11-09 03:31:06 +0000 UTCYou literally missed the whole part of the Will Tybur arc. The Marleyeans never actually controlled Marley... The Tyburs did from the shadows. Put it this way... The Eldian Civil war kicks off... fighting happens but King Fritz is a pacifist to his core so he doesn't want to deal with it. He plans, with the Tyburs, to exile himself, leave the Tyburs in charge by creating the *imaginary* hero Helos and giving the Tyburs credit. The Tyburs job was to play shadow puppeteer by "allowing" the Marlyeans to form their own government but always steering "the wheel" in the background. We literally see in Ymir's flashback, the Eldian Empire committed many of the attrocities that were alleged. We don't get to see 2000 years of it but it is heavily implied. Grisha Jeagars version of events throughout the show are shown to be born out of she ignorance and hope. When Grice asks Grisha if he could read the ancient scrolls depicting the Eldian history, Grisha just says "nah dude none of this makes since but I believe it in my heart anyways". The point of Isyama's story is that both sides did horrible things, and those should never be used to justify wide spread loss of innocent life no matter if the horrors were 2000 years old or 5 years old. Genocide is wrong, if you don't get that then I feel sorry for you.

2024-11-09 03:14:05 +0000 UTC1. Yeah, my point was that Marley barely could survive as people, not even talking about a nation, if what they were saying about "devils" were true. Because nations and ethnicities can be erased in a century. 2. There was the civil war that resulted in the conspiracy of two Eldian nobles and in establishing of minimum two separate states: Paradis and Marley. Paradis clearly had no intention of attacking Marley. It even had a "nuclear" shield, using your analogy, and stated that they would use it if got attacked. Marley attacked anyway with their "nuclear weapon" analog and got retaliation in return. So my opinion remains the same. Maybe that's the AOT's entire point: don't resolve grudges with war, idk to be honest.

Since the weaponry until now wasn't efficient against titans, I don't see how it's suspicious at all. As a comparison to our real world, 8 countries officially possess nuclear weapons. Any third world country that would, out of a sudden, obtain access to that would instantly have more power in talks, etc... So back to AOT, you get most of the tools and threats of one dominant empire, how do you not turn into a dominant superpower as well ? "they do started this feud by invading the island"... Well that's the point of view of someone whose memories only go as far as what King Fritz allowed them to have. That's silly to try to find who really started the feud since it goes way beyond what as a living they experienced. For a Marleyan your statement saying that the feud starting only by invading the island is a complete joke. That's the whole conversation in this episode as the stew is boiling up as the tension gets high as well.

I am sure that Eldian empire behaved like every empire does and that Marley people was oppressed. But considering the version about a 2000 years long genocide it's kinda suspicious that Marley became a world's superpower right after the empire fell. Besides they DO started this feud first by invading the island. So Eren is just fighting back with all the power that he obtains. And that's why Gabi's words "we wanted to genocide you, but now we are gonna be genocided in retaliation" sound silly to me.

Why is it disregarded when all Eldians will face mass genocide on the opposite spectrum....so many ppl look at Eren as just a villain but in the real world if an entire race of ppl is threatened to be wiped out do we still feel the same? Ppl would see that as genocide too just not in this series apparently

But if you're alluding to the war in the Gaza strip, I hate being political in an anime discussion thread, but that's not genocide. It's just a war between Hamas and Israel with lots of civilian casualties. If they really want to "genocide" Palestinians, they could've just nuked the whole place and be done with it.

Jean is entirely in the right here when he accuses Marley and the rest of the world of starting this shit. *LITERALLY* if nobody had come to attack the people of Paradis, this whole show wouldn't have happened. Eren wouldn't have been who he is. The rest of the world is mad that they declared war on Paradis and Paradis said "bet" and pulled out their superweapons that they had threatened as a deterent but nobody believed actually existed. Getting mad at Eren is like getting mad at a Jew in the Holocaust who gets access to weapons and decides to start fighting back.

I won't spell it out too much for y'all but what did Sasha's father always say about the forest, and what is the crew starting to do in the forest? There is also a reason why the stew happened to be potato stew, and the mid info-card mentioning the "generous amount of potatoes" (more links to Sasha). It all ties back to what Sasha's father said about the forest.

If you normally do leave it in, it's louder than normal, as I've never heard it, and usually have you guys pretty loud. And can hear it even when I have you guys almost muted. Just letting you know for future edits, in case it was an accident, or to let you know it's a factor in case it was intentional. I imagine it would probably still bug me a little if I was watching sub, as it's difficult to line up two sets of audio perfectly without some sort of doubling or echoing. Although it would be less noticeable in low volumes as it's the same audio and not two different languages and sentences being said. However, just wanted to let you guys know. keep up the great reactions. Can't wait for the rest!
