I will paste from online post : G-Cells, which are Godzilla’s cells, first appeared in the 1989 film "Godzilla vs. Biollante". In this movie, geneticist Genichiro Shiragami uses G-Cells to create a hybrid creature from the DNA of his deceased daughter and a rose. These cells are known for their regenerative and mutative properties, making them a significant element in the Godzilla franchise

Literally everytime it shoots its like a Atomic bomb going off wild stuff.. and the fact he also had freaking wolverine healing ability.. like come on.. this is what godzilla is meant to be.. not the Good guy lol Just a ruthless Merciless force of nature that seeming cant be stopped. 10/10 acting. first godzilla movie that actually makes you care about the human characters and their story and isnt all about godzilla. godzilla was more there to enhance the story more than anything eles.. could also go on and on about the messages of war in general this film has.. or how godzilla himself is a metaphore for war. great writing great film. great reaction.

I really liked Oak's take on things how this was very much a post WWII movie. Not sure if you guys were aware but the meaning behind the title of this movie is related to that sentiment. After the war the people of Japan were essentially at "zero" being the losers of the war with a completely decimated country. And in the context of this movie with Godzilla showing up, they drop below zero or "minus one" as it were. Now I think you guys would enjoy the movie prior this (Japanese produced) called Shin Godzilla. Up until Minus One, Shin Godzilla was considered by many to be the best Godzilla film. It has a some incredible themes and commentary on bureaucracy. Would love to see you all react to it!

The three of you are such a great team, all finding different things from your own unique perspectives. And I completely agree that this isn’t a “Godzilla” movie - it’s a war movie with Godzilla in it. Which is what makes it so good.

Hollywood needs to take notes on this movie because that is how you make us care about the characters. Yes, there is a lump of Godzilla cells behind Noriko's neck, and the theory is that if they make a sequel, the lump on her neck will play a role, transforming her into something similar to Biollante.

2024-07-05 21:28:12 +0000 UTCFunny thing, I was so into watching with you that when Answer sneezed I said "God bless you." 🤣 I have mixed feelings on this one. I've seen every Godzilla iteration movie, series, animated, and even stop motion. I love that they focused on what it was like for the PEOPLE of Japan after the war, but I think it needed a bit more editing to relieve the drag. Also the only reason I accept her living at the end is b/c it was the blowback and not the heat beam.

I was lucky enough to see it 4 times in theaters, 3 times in color and once in Minus Color.. My favorite part is the whole first part of the plane sequence with Koichi flying around looking for and antagonizing Godzilla with that epic part of the score playing..

Godzilla can't EAT people (he still can stomp on them). and Godzilla must not be unalive in the end of the movie (but you still can bully him). But I think in every Japanese or American adaptation movies, we already see that. we never see Godzilla eating human. Which all of this shown in this movie, Godzilla just throwing away it's victim, and back to live in the end.

I seen it subbed when it came out in December, then seen it in March in Japan in the Toho Cinema under the Godzilla hotel. Then I seen it dubbed when it came out on Netflix. Love this film and love you guys too. LETS GOOOO!
