Seems to me that when a studio like Pixar becomes so successful, it can start to mold large portions of audience into liking and wanting a certain kind of story. Ghibli feels very different, and I find both Pixar and Ghibli each have much that I enjoy ! I remember having seen a few Ghibli films when I was a child, and - in more recent years, after a period of watchign many Pixar films - I rediscovered Ghibli and appreciated so much of Ghibli's unique content ( I feel Ghibli films are very unique, even among animes ! ). Speaking for myself, "Spirited Away" is lower down on my list of favourite Ghibli films - there are several others that I like even more. As Badd Medicine ( hopefully ) continues to watch more Ghibli films, I would love to hear if Bad Medicine finds yourself connecting to Ghibli flilms in ways ( psychological, emotional, mental, viewing experience, etc ) that you did not find in other films before. I remember there have been some worries about Ghibli copyright tendencies, I hope that will not be a problem for Badd Medicine.

But since you seem open to Anime movies, would like to suggest (in no particular order) Ghibli's Mononoke Hime, Your Name (Kimi na wa), A Silent Voice, or Ghost in the Shell for future consideration. For multi part movies, maybe Evangelion, or Gurren Laggan :D

Can’t go wrong with Ghibli , Maybe you’ll even get to your boy Robert Pattinson in The Boy and The Heron but there’s top tier stuff to watch before then that explains the universe. Princess Mononoke explains a lot from this world so maybe you guys should watch these in a certain order. 🤷🏽♂️ either way this one’s a good first.

2024-04-20 21:56:23 +0000 UTCI mean the guys have never seen anime before but the first one they’re tackling is literally Shingeki no Kyojin/ Attack on Titan. One of the anime with a very interesting and complicated storyline in Shōnen history. They are basically tackling one of the big ones in anime right off the bat & they are doing completely fine keeping up with it at the moment while also really enjoying it. If they can handle AOT, they’ll be able to handle majority of the anime they watch from here on, including Studio Ghibli movies. Remember there are a lot of fans who’s anime journeys started with Studio Ghibli movies. Howls Moving Castle was literally my very first anime movie that I experienced as a kid and loved it straight away. If I could understand the messages & meaning in the storytelling back when I was just a kid, I’m sure the guys will too. They’ll be fine

Another reaction channel I watch put their video up twice for Spirited Away, it was taken down both times. Other channels have complained about this as well and not just Spirited Away but SG all-together.

2024-04-20 02:52:45 +0000 UTCI understand the huge fan base that Studio Ghibli has, (as reflected quite clearly here haha), don’t get me wrong I love all of them as well… but if you put almost any of them in a poll, they will win every time hands down. I think hardcore SG fans are also missing the fact that these guys have never seen a SG film, and as other commenters have mentioned, I don’t think Spirited Away would be the best one to start with diving into SG tbh. Either way though, it’ll be a great reaction I’m sure! 🤍

I just know all of you will love it, but ESPECIALLLLY Oak, my gosh he would be gushing over Soul. It’s my top one amongst the animated films I’ve been hoping for y’all to react to (Moana and Frozen are the only ones left on my list… that I can think of at this moment as far as animated goes).

The songs in Prince of Egypt are iconic and the animation is beautiful! On the other hand I was obsessed with Rise of the Guardians, I feel like it's a great story and that it's really underrated, just for the fact that people haven't seen it. It's animation is beautiful as well, and I just really need to see Oak watch this lol. I know he'll love the main character.

I know it’s been years now but I’m still hung up on it losing to ‘Baby Boss’ at the Academy Awards. It really makes no sense that an amazing anime film lost to such a generic western animated movie

In fact Studio Ghibli in general gets huge copyrights. It’s not winning but please still do Prince Of Egypt! It’s honestly my favorite Dreamworks film! It’s a masterpiece!

Studio Ghibli movies are so good, my favourite being ‘Howls Moving Castle’ but ‘Spirited Away’ is an amazing movie too. I hope you guys dive into more anime movies too, not just Ghibli movies. I want you guys to experience ones like ‘A Silent Voice’, my favourite anime movie of all time, the story is so freaking good

My kids loved it, now my grandkids love it, even my teenage grandkids still love Brother Bear, I've seen it probably a hundred times if not more and I'll still sit and watch it. It's so good and funny. Especially the genius of casting the "McKinzie brothers" (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) as the moose.

I grew up watching them with my grandparents every year and I just think they're so unique and cozy. Jack Frost is my favorite and it's actually my favorite winter/Christmas movie. I always loved that one.

I that is the one that gets chosen, after you watch the film, search for a list of things that you've missed (which will be alot!). Because we are not japanese, there are alot of things we miss and they are sooooo clever. Some actually blew my mind.

It's personally my favourite but can be jarring for some, easier to digest after they've seen a few others. Still, I hope it wins aha. All of these are great movies though, so I'd be happy with any. Prince of Egypt is another one I really love, though.

Prince of Egypt is just stunning and love the sound track but I got to say Rise of the Garden is vastly underrated, a unique take on very well known characters. I can’t wait ether way 🫣
