Dear Darling Doctor: Chapter 1

As promised, here is the first chapter of the Dear Darling Doctor remake!

When I ran the poll a while back to determine which story would get a full length remake, Runaway beat Dear Darling Doctor by one, maybe two votes. In comparison, the third option (Atomic Bandstand) didn't receive any votes at all. As a result, while I was absolutely thrilled to rewrite Runaway as a proper multi-chapter story, I also decided that I was going to still give DDD the same treatment. Runaway got priority, and will have a second arc, so it winning that poll will still have a sizeable impact, but I didn't think it was fair to deprive people of this remake when the poll results were as close as they were.

On that note, DDD and Runaway are actually rather similar, despite their wildly different tones and protagonists. They were both oneshots featuring a more epistolary storytelling style (DDD being told through Doctor Sang's recordings, while Runaway was told via Molly's diary), whose protagonists went from being oneshot characters to recurring parts of this setting with quite a bit of unexpected character development. So it only makes sense for them both to be remade in a more standard third person POV style. Likewise, I'm rendering the original oneshots noncanonical, and these remakes are taking their place.

With all that out of the way... If you've been itching for a darker story, one with a protagonist who isn't necessarily a good person, and where we watch as they're systematically broken and turned into a Stepford citizen... You're bound to get a kick out of Cassandra Bloomington's story. I've added a lot of extra bells and whistles, and there'll be a few twists and turns as we explore her stay at Sunny Skies.
