Social Butterflies: Chapter 3 (Finale)
Added 2025-06-04 09:00:01 +0000 UTCThis story, much like the Stoplight Stepfordization series I wrote, ended up being more of an anthology than a straightforward story, but I enjoy anthology storytelling, so I'm pleased with it. Like how Stoplight had the throughline of Nurse Maddock running through it, this story has Darla's opening and closing segments, and her control over the people in her life.
I was probably most excited to write this chapter out of all three, simply because it focuses on Kelly. For a character who appeared in the original Stepford Butterflies story, and is the twin of that story's protagonist, she didn't get much focus there beyond being Nora's brainwashed twin. I wanted to shine a light on her here, and show more of what Kelly is like and exactly what Darla did to her, and why. I also enjoyed just getting to show how the twins get along and what their dynamic is now that they're both Butterflies.
