The House Wins: Chapter One

Well, here we are, at long last, with the beginning of the counterpart story to Bet On Black. I suppose the closest comparison I can think of for this is how Twilight got a companion novel from the perspective of Edward, although this story isn't just following the events of Bet On Black from a different person's point of view.

This is going to be the story of Mallory's life in Stepford, starting on the day she moved into town (as shown in Bet On Black from Mya's perspective), and going several years past that. At the time of me posting this, I'm about 5 chapters deep into this story, and Mallory has been in Stepford for roughly 4-5 years and counting. Not that each chapter covers a different year, but there are skips here and there.

Mallory has become sort of a mascot for Stepford in my mind. She was a punk, she was liberated, she was confident and independent and self aware, and then she had the misfortune of ending up in Stepford. Now she's the polar opposite of everything she was, believes in everything she had opposed, and is fully aware of the fact that she didn't used to be this way. So telling her story from her perspective is something that I wanted to make sure I did someday.
