Superhero To Stepford: X-Men
Added 2022-07-06 12:00:05 +0000 UTCRight up top, I wanted to give a big big thanks to Vasily26, whose setting this story belongs in, and who played a vital role in the writing and editing of this story.
If you haven't read any of Vasily's Superhero to Stepford AU, I highly recommend it! The short version is that Captain Peggy Carter (Captain Carter) was brainwashed after the war by Arnim Zola. As his housewife, she supported him as he led SHIELD and founded Stepford, where heroes who pass through are similarly brainwashed.
I had asked Vasily about how the X-Men work in this setting, and we agreed that the current Krakoa era of the comics would be a good launching point. A Mutant utopia, although in this universe, one that has a connection to Stepford and SHIELD. I left it vague as to how exactly that relationship began, in case Vasily wants to explore it later, but we thought it'd be fun to see a sort of promotional video about Krakoa, encouraging Mutant tourism and immigration, with a few hints as to how this status quo is maintained.

I'd hope you continue to write in the realms of the X-Men and Marvel comics, there's a lot of scope for a Stepford inspired story, especially when there's a lot to work with. I'd be interested in seeing how Krakoa became a Stepford inspired land, and how some of the X-Men came to be there.

2022-07-06 18:52:27 +0000 UTCIf there’s two things I love reading, it’s Stepfordization stories and Krakoa era X-Men comics. This is such a perfect integration of the two! I love how you show how easily the laws of Krakoa can fit Stepford ideals, and how happy you show so many of the characters in their new lives! Personally I think Destiny, X-23, and Magik are my fav housewives here, but I love the ensemble! I’m honored you wanted to use my setting and listened to my suggestions. Terrific work!
