'The Perfect Excuse' - Spoken Word 2020

Sometime around June 2020, I wrote a spoken word piece that we developed into a song "Why the hell did lockdown have to end". This is the original pitch I sent to the lads which I found recently on my computer! I think it possibly captures the life of an introvert better than the song does. I hope you like it! It definitely has some lines that I wanted to get into the song but they wouldn't fit the melody

Lockdown . . . those were the days when introverts ruled.

I don't find it more serious than the song. I am an introvert and I don't consider it an illness , a bad thing or something that brings me down. It's just a different perspective. Exclusively from the lack-of-contact -with-other-people point of view lockdown was easy for me. Thanks Conor for this spoken word piece about, well, me 😁

Are you sure you're not an introvert, Arms? This was spot-on! Excellent poem, but definitely on the serious side - I agree with those who say it was more lighthearted and comedic as a song.

'But do call me, sorry, because I get lonely. Call me, so I say I can't go. Does that make sense?' I can see why you elevated this to lightness with the song - which worked so well. This is relatable, a bit close to the bone and bloody magnificent!! Thank you for sharing.

I love this , I liked the song but I think this is more sad, I'm going to have to listen to it again x

As an Introvert, you got it right. ☺️ I like it!

This was so good! I loved the song, but I think I like this even more? Cause like, the song was funny and relatable, this is just, like relatable pushed to a thousand.

You are such a talent!! Brilliant, so spot on, and love the intonation, expressions, and pace! ...did I mention funny as all... I laughed, lots.

Thank you!!!!

Describes my feelings to a T. Definitely introverted and have to have a really good reason to go to things. Often go to please others, but never actually enjoy just learn to pass it off, make all the right noises. Much happier when I don't have to have the anxiety of not being able to say no or actually having to go.

This is actually brilliant. And spot on.

Bollocks 🤣
