I'm a grown man and an engineer to boot. I'm generally not very emotional, but the scene with Max's mom really touched me. Max is there wanting to take care of her to the best of his ability while balancing work, money, time, and relationships. He has the weight of so many people that he wants to help on his shoulders. He sees the light at the end of of the tunnel; he sees a better path for his mom, but he can't give it to her yet. In that moment Max is overwhelmed and starting to mentally spiral into "I don' think I can... maybe if I..." scenarios, when a friend comes along and guides him away from his thoughts to say, "It's ok. We're here to help. Let's take walk and talk about the options when we get back." Isn't that what we all need? A friend to lend a hand when we are overwhelmed. Someone to share the burden when we can't take another step forward. That was beautiful. Thank you Ted.

Holy shit, what a chapter. That one dragged me all over the emotional map. My favorite bits were two little character moments. Henri playing big brother to sharky and bringing the crowd along, and Youngster wanting to make sure Zach really does understand that God loves the Cleveland Browns. Just perfect.
