So, maybe it's just because we're seeing through Max's eyes, but if you're building to an Emma jealousy arc, it really doesn't feel justified. As things stand, Max doesn't even seem obliviously attracted to Brooke - she's just a new team asset that changes things up a great deal. Like, I feel like Max feels about Brooke like he felt about Playdar when he first got it - "There are so many more open doors now!" I feel like Emma has the EQ to read the difference. Also, she hasn't been threatened by any other attractive and competent women, so why Brooke? That said, I'll join the chorus to say that was a fantastic end to the chapter.

In future, he's always going to be fighting an uphill battle to keep Chester competitive. I doubt he'll have time to go save incompetently run teams from relegation. As this chapter shows, changing a team's operation and culture is not the work of a few weeks. If Max somehow manages to get enough people on board to avoid them self-sabotaging, it'll be a miracle.

[s]MD is going to sign him, isn't he?[/s] The Taj Mahal is a terrible place to be alone. Princess Di's second honeymoon for one. Hopefully the right blonde will brighten up the place. Wait more than 90 seconds to think who that might be. While talking hands free on the phone while driving is legal, do worry about other road users causing accidents for even the safest driver.

Something about Max just being surrounded by a bunch of utter bastards, the isolation and ostracism just made me uncomfortable. Ended on a high though, looking forward to seeing how it goes next chapter.
