Max’s first rival! Super excited to see how this one plays out.

Jacob Copley

This is the second chapter in a row that has foreshadowed / mentioned the new board members. The question is if Nick or the Imps have managed to become members. Making it harder for fans come to games seems like a Nick thing to do. Or maybe the plot twist is that it's just normal people. Crazy.

If this was vanilla RPG I'd worry about steady progression killing off the drama. The supernatural element means that Max Best doesn't have the only cheat codes over reality. Also, Billionaires.

I was wondering what obstacles will exist in the future. In theory max will eventually hit smooth sailing where the weight of his abilities will overwhelm anything before him. At that point, what happens from a narrative perspective. How will Ted handle this? We are talking a ways down the road. But still.

"The only dude with the skills to stop me achieving my goals." Chester (and Max) only play each team twice. So the only way they can stop him is to win more games with other teams as well as beating Chester, home and away. This dude is probably a good manager/coach? His staff profile perk will alarm Max. Only because he can't read his own staff profile. C'mon Max, you can do it.

Actually though? I fucking *love* that ending. Finally, finally, Max is facing an antagonist to challenge him through *football*. Max, fighting to forge an imperfect team into the best it can be, is exactly what I want from this story.

This chapter, especially the ending reminded me a lot of a book one chapter - the ominous foreshadowing ending, the max against the world vibe. I liked it and again I think it's good that you are showing that even with leveling up everything isn't going to be easy for Max and everyone isn't going to believe him instantly. It's a long and winding road.

The son of Ian Evans, who grew up to be a manager but is just as modern and flexible and weird as Max is.

I’m trying to think who it could be.

Brandon Baier

Great chapter. Though that's a very ominous ending.
