Survivor of Earth's Destruction Description

It's always the videos I don't expect that do super well. I love that kind of surprise! Anyway here's the description. Enjoy, love you all.
The last thing you remember was panic and a bright light. Something had gone wrong. Earth knew that. It was the end of the world, but they still had hope. The countries can together in a gathering of promise; earth’s most remarkable scientists coming together to save humanity. Ships were sent into space for further research, to figure out how much time we had.
We had the chance to ask for help. We’d learned long before other creatures were out there. Intelligent creatures. Civilizations light years away. We were in constant communication with them. But something in our prideful human hearts kept us from telling them the full story.
The scientists of earth would rather die than ask for help from ‘lesser’ aliens.
There was a sense of earth-wide patriotism. It wasn’t just the elite that held that point of view. It was pretty much everyone. Those who disagreed were held up as extremists. Those who kept quiet were swept under the rug.
You were sent up as a researcher. You were excited; you studied your whole life to be an astronaut and it was your first time in space. Of course you were thrilled. You expected to be excited. You expected to help save the world.
You didn’t expect everyone to die.
