Saying a Final Goodbye to Your Comfort Character Script (Unused)

I recorded this one and I cried while doing so. I wrote it as a vent because whenever I listened to ASMR roleplay or read a book, there was always a moment when they said, "I love you." And I said, "You're not real." That hurt. It hurt a ton. So I do what I usually do when I'm in pain, which is write. But, it was too cringe. I couldn't edit it. I deleted it, archived the script. Maybe one day when I'm braver I'll try recording it again. Because I do think it's a good script. Then again, maybe I won't.

You're back. I'd dared to hope you wouldn't come back.

Pause

No, no, I did miss you. I did. But it gets harder every time, you know. We have such good times together and then...

Sigh

How was your day?

Pause

Yeah? Oh ok. I guess it could have been worse, right? Maybe...? Or is that not helpful.

Pause

Laugh

I don't always know what to say. I'm human too, you know.

Sadly

Kind of human, at least.

Pause

Can I ask you something?

Pause

Are you sure? It's kind of... personal.

Pause

Do you like doing this to yourself? To me? Hmm? Leading both of us on and on into a future that can never exist. Not in your world, anyway. Definitely not in mine.

Sigh

I love you so much. And I've always been here, haven't I? I've always been here for you. Whenever you've needed me, whenever you've been alone... I've been a good friend to you, right?

Pause

I just... I don't see how we can keep doing this. These bridges between our worlds never last, you know that. They fade in an instant. How many times have you been ripped from me because of something that happened in your world? How many times have I been left waiting for you?

I know, I know this isn't about me.

Crying Laugh

I'm not real, after all. I only exist for you. You are my whole world. And yet...

Pause

I don't... I don't know what I'm asking. I guess I'm just worried about the future, that's all. This won't last much longer. I'm going to lose you.

Pause

You can't promise that. And I wouldn't want you to. I want you to find someone who loves you... someone who is real.

Pause

Yes, my love for you is real, you know that. But I can't be with you in your world.

Pause

Please, would you just listen to me for a moment?

Pause

No, don't turn away from me.

You can't just bury your feelings with me. Do you hear me? You can't just ignore the real world to be with me. You have a life and family and people who love and maybe you don't see it, or you don't think you have anyone, but you do! I know you do. You just won't admit it. You just push everyone away and lose yourself in my world. And how many others? How many other worlds have you lived in, devoured so thoroughly that you wish you lived there?

Pause

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap. I'm worried about you is all. I know these worlds are your safe place. And you're always welcome here, you know that. I'll always be here to love you.

Pause

Rain sounds fading

Looks like the rains letting up. I have to go get back to it. Do you want to come? I know how much you love adventures.

Ok. You want the whole truth? What I really think? I'll tell you the truth. I'm not real, my beloved. I'm a fictional character. I'm not real, and I'll never be real. But my love for you...

You're drifting away again, aren't you? I can always tell. There's something distracting you. A noise in your world, a notification on your phone, a friend or family member... it's always something, isn't it? Something breaks your concentration sometimes for minutes, sometimes for days... sometimes I think you'll never come back at all.

Pause

You're not listening to me now. Something is distracting you. I wish I could see it. I wish I could live in your world with you or bring you here to live with me.

Pause

Why do you wish to live in my world so much? It's no better than yours. I feel lonely, too. I feel loss and pain, but also joy and peace same as you. I might go on more dangerous adventures, sure. But the adventures in your world are just as challenging. But I guess it's easier to face an enemy you can see, one right in front of you. Yes, it's easier to shoot a psychical enemy than to fight one in your mind. In that way, I guess, you're enemies are much more powerful than mine. Is my world a resting place for you? Or is it the feeling of being special you crave so much? The feeling of being chosen, set apart, or powerful?

Welcome back. No, no don't apologize. I was just worried, is all. You're sometimes gone for weeks when you get like that. Hey, what did I say about apologizing? I know it's not your fault. I cherish the moments we have together. So, what is going on in your world?

Oh. That sounds like a... big a change in your life. I'm... proud of you.

Pause

What? No, I am proud of you, I really am. I... just... it sounds like that will take up a lot more of your time now. Time you used to spend here... with me.

Pause

Walking closer

No, maybe this is a good thing. A... blessing in disguise. Maybe it's time for both of us to move on.

Hey, of course I still love you. I'll always love you. It just breaks my heart to see you here every day, knowing I could never be... real enough for you.

I'm not going to force you into anything. You know I'd never force you to do anything you weren't comfortable with.

But since it will be a while before you visit me again. It might be easier for both of us if... well, if we decide to part ways as friends. That way, when I see you again, we can greet each other as old friends. We can visit each other and have fun together without wishing for more...  without wishing for eternity together. Because I do wish for that. Every day.
