June Special: Tales of PRIDE

For June's special, we'll have a sit down with one of our WwF heroes as they regale us as to how they first knew they were queer, and how those around them reacted. If applicable, what was your fledgling foray into club Rainbow? Mine was probably watching the Opposites Attract music video and realizing that I was more attracted to Paula Abdul than the cartoon cat, which no one who knew me saw coming.

I'm going with Icy, though it was a TOUGH choice. Yinz make these choices DIFFICULT, Kae. As far as my awakening, and joining team Rainbow, it was a long, slow process. Mostly because I didn't have the vocabulary for it. Thinking back, starting with my older sister, then going into She-Ra, Jem from Jem and the Holograms, Princess Leia from Star Wars and a couple others, I had the ongoing question of "Do I want to be WITH her, do I want to BE her, or do I want to be her best friend?" I was in college before I realized that not everyone who was AMAB had those thoughts of not only being envious of girls, but wanting to BE one. Lexa and the polycule that was Ophelia Rising pulled me out of the closet for a few years, them moving to LA and me staying to finish college shoved me back in. Twenty years later, my enby spouse slowly drew me out again.
