Deer And Loathing In St. Charlies

TammyTerra asked to drop in on the formidable Sous La Mer sisters! You've seen the cervine siblings in their grownup glory, now behold the garbage pail fawns in their original form. Like the Dazzlings before them, Liz had the largest hand in creating the sisters' backstory.

The Sous La Mers had a start similar to Clem's...unfortunately the trio had no cool aunts to come rescue them from squalor and neglect. Sous La Mom was a lout and an unhinged party animal, entertaining many a needle wielding weirdo and/or creepy impermanent lover. There's a possibility that eldest sister Ariadne might have had a halfway decent father who kept her fed, clean and not completely insane for a short time, but he cramped Mom's style and she didn't keep him around long. Some other dude sired Renata and Regina, little sisters to whom Ariadne tended because...well, she had to throw her reason to live at SOMETHING.

I'm not sure if the trio have affection for each other...the concept seems a little outside the spectrum of their understanding. They do, however, appreciate their siblings' strengths and have chosen to trust their solidarity. Ariadne learned early on that she could use her devious, mechanically inclined brain to create the barriers and booby traps that kept the sisters safe. Homicidally brave Renata would go on to employ her brute force to fight for herself and her siblings. And it wasn't long before Machiavellian baby sister Regina surmised that these chaotic bitches needed a leader.

You might assume that the three would grow up to be frothing beasts, but no...they're way too nefarious for that. They may be misfits, but their songs are better. Ariadne is not only a scrounger, but an inventor. Renata has artistic flair and creates as well as she destroys. Regina recognizes the fact that true beauty exists amongst the grime, and there's nothing more beautiful than song and dance. Hence, the siblings would liquidate their eventually-dead mother's assets and build a badass theatre, culturally lauded by the audiences of St. Charlies.

Water deer fawns have markings similar to the adults, along with speckles on their backs (which we can't see in this pic). I don't know when they grow their little fangs, but one way or another, I assure you these brats bite.

They never found the body of that one stranger that tried to take Renata for "a walk." All Renata says about it was that the music was pretty.

Jose Rosa

She is really good at seeing the individual trees in the forest!

Liz's worldbuilding skills are so powerful. I'd love to know more about her creative process.
