Added 2025-01-01 23:38:30 +0000 UTCFor our first bite of concept art for 2025, we visit wee Bridget MacGowd and her best mate Doogan Decopatton, out capering through the amorphous Photoshop brush effects of Sowsgow. Doogan (a tiger prawn) and Red were inseparable in the 90s, all through school until their teen years. The irrepressible Red made the decision in high school that she no longer cared to be chubby--a bonnie look for some lasses, but not for her--and joined the weightlifting club, much to her companion's dismay. Doogan, who had harbored a crush on his bestie, ceased to find her beautiful now that she was covered in unseemly muscles, and the dream team died.
Does Red miss Doogan? Maybe, in her own way, if she ever thinks about him...which she probably doesn't. Red chafes at living in a world where we waste our time in the presence of people who bring us down...and at the beginning of WwF's narrative, the weepy and sullen Valerie is indeed bringing Red down. Kittiwake shakes up the status quo, but her entry into their relationship also forces Red and Valerie to inspect what's good and bad, what works and what doesn't, about their existing marriage, and whether it's worth saving.

As we will see, Val's hangup about therapy isn't "I'm strong so I don't need it" so much as "therapy is for rich people". Val was so traumatized by growing up with little money that she still thinks she can't afford a luxury like mental health, whether or not she actually can.

She won't like it, because she already feels oppressed, but the first step in getting better is being told "Hon, you a mess, let's start working on that." And Kitti is the best one for that, as I believe, Val listens to her more then Red.

2025-01-02 12:07:21 +0000 UTCI was and can be hard on Red, but Val is a hot mess and seems stuck, even though she's going to therapy. I'm hoping Kitti, who loves them both and is willing to put up being a second class citizen, considering she can't get officially married to the two will get both of them to stop, look and get their butts in front of a therapist ASAP, along with addressing the simmering issues in the mateship.
