Trying to bring myself up with lots of WwF delving. This counts as vent art.
Valerie is very close to her mom and dad, who are now in their 70s (yes, they're alive). Dad Roger (snow leopard, not pictured) is an artist who was never once commercially successful in his life, and mom Marina (diving beetle, pictured in the ghostly form of her youthful prime) was an Olympic swim team hopeful who tripped (slipped?) at the finish line. Marina's hive were laser focused on sports, and when Marina slunk away in defeated shame and married her love Roger Firn, it was good riddance.
Like Mom, the only thing at which Valerie ever excelled was swimming, but you can't really major in "swim", and Val grew up to take an anemic office job. She's a lousy fit for the poor-paying, mind numbing nine to five; meanwhile her impoverished parents' single desire is their daughter's happiness. Valerie can't even give them that. You're a loser, baby!
Marina and Roger live in a flat in Bradydale, where they survive because Red quietly pays their rent. They share a building with their very good friend Gnewt Best, dad of Ike and grandpa of Rudy.
You would think that Valerie would be chubbier with all the junk food she ravenously eats, but maybe the anxiety burns all the calories...
