Who are these people?  How did they get in here??

Roger Firn is a snow leopard and his lovely wife Marina is a diving beetle.  They are Valerie's parents and they adore her, and vice versa.  The Firns provided tons of love and tenderness for their daughters, but they were (are) forever broke.  Their girls were usually cold, hungry and scared.  Valerie deifies her parents anyway.  Her sister, however...

Delphi Firn is Valerie's fraternal twin sister, and she has no tolerance/sympathy/time of day for her loser parents.  Delphi hopped a bus out of town the millisecond she turned 18.  She used to come around once in a while to make sure everyone was still alive, but lately she can't even be bothered to do that.  Delphi thinks (and loudly says) that Valerie is a sycophantic dumbass.  Red wants very much to punch Delphi right in her misanthropic mandibles.  Maybe someday!  

Angela Corzak Mantiski III, or Acee, is Mantiski's mom.  Acee is a shrewd businessmantis who owns a bunch of luxury condos on the riverfront.   Fun fact: I have had the Mantiski character since I was 15 years old, and she's always had the same mom, yet this is the first time I have ever drawn Acee.  I always wondered what she looked like!

Ida Friedman (the elephant) is Ike's mother, from whom he has been estranged for decades.  It would have been low hanging fruit to give Ida an obnoxious face.  She was in fact quite the looker in her day, and she and Gnewt were much in love, once upon a time.

And then there was good old mild-mannered dorky dolphin man Rudolpho Stenella Sr.  You've all seen Dolph before, but I felt he was just "tall Rudy" and I wanted to update his mug a little.  Dolph gets along with Ike (who is a lot), cherishes their son, takes good care of his patients and loves big, tough butch women (he's almost always let down when the latter turn out to be gay and/or men).  Ike is everything.  He's just Dolph.
