How about the proper pick angle on down sweeps. I seem to remember either you or Bernth saying that the pick angle should remain the same, but that’s crazy talk. So focus on the transition from up to down.

I get a lot of string noise when I lift my fretting fingers during a sweep. Specifically my index finger. Its like I'm pulling or plucking the string as I raise my finger to move it to another fret in the pattern

Biggest problem (apart from the fact, i don’t even like the sound of most sweep passages) is, how do you practice properly?
I finally got good with picking after realising that you don’t learn running by accelerating your walking movement. It’s a completely different motion.
I guess, that there’s a similar truth with sweeps.

I always have had the struggle of descending on the strings after picking them down.

Belated Happy Birthday 🤘🏻❤️! How about some stadegies to use sweep picking as a mechanism to move up the neck with a flurry of notes that lands on some sweet soaring boomer bending tonic or harmonically interesting resolve.

Happy Belated Bday Uncle Ben, my issue is definitely a hand sync issue. Ascending following a decend has always been a major problem.

I’ve been struggling for years trying to learn the intro to Children of Bodom’s Towards Dead End. He sweeps up to the high E string and then plays an extra note on the high string before sweeping back down and I’m not sure the best way to approach picking the extra note if that makes sense lol.

Is there a "best" approach on when to switch direction of pick travel if you have a single note on the last string of an ascending/descending combo sweep? Do you pick the last string in the SAME direction of the previous strings and then hop over the final string on the return...or do you do the hop one string early and make the last string part of the sweep in the other direction? Did that make sense?
