4 Demonic Pentatonic Licks of DOOM! Patreon Exclusive!

Hey guys! Here's the bonus lesson to go along with WW266, where you learned my Demonic Pentatonic shape. Not only is that scale great in jazzy progressions featuring a m7b5 chord, its also great for some aggressive and exotic metal shredding!

In this video, i'm going to show you 4 different sequenced licks that take advantage of the 2 note per string pattern in this scale. Sinister 6's, KHAOTIC KIRK, Satanic Slash, and Evil Eric 5's are going to be yours after you watch the video and grab the TABs below! Be sure to follow the picking guides closely (the "n" symbol is downstroke, the "V" is upstroke) for maximum impact!

I stumbled across this yesterday and love it. For future reference, IMO, Ben's right hand notation for Satanic Slash in the .jpg is incorrect. If I understand from the video and just basic logic, the sequence is 8 notes with two parts. The 1st 4 notes are intended to be picked as DUDP and the 2nd 4 notes as DUPD. This is fine, and as Ben notes leads to some economy picking. As a pure Alt picker, I feel like the sequence can be played more effectively as DUDP + UDPU (pure alt with some pull-offs.) I think your mileage might depend on your picking style, including slant. I have a fairly flat pick slant with a downward bias of between 5 and 10%. Enjoy!

You can hear sounds with the b5 (tritone) in lots of Gypsy jazz tunes as well. Gotta love the m7b5!
