Severance | S2 Ep1

Well... here we go again. I'm so excited it's almost pathetic.

Almost.

And this episode... what a way to kick off Season 2. So, so bizarre.

I adore it. Enjoy everyone!

40:33 love how there are suddenly 4 people in the background ๐Ÿ˜‚

Tim H.

Very clever of Lumon to manipulate the truth to clean up their business image. Anyway, I hope both Helly and Dylan come clean about the things they know. (I understand that Helly must be afraid of how her friends might react after finding out she's an Eagan, but lying about something that important is so wrong TwT). If I were Dylan, I wouldnโ€™t believe anything Lumonโ€™s people saidโ€”especially if it involved hiding information from my friends 0w0

Oh wow interesting! Yeah it's weird isn't it, but it seems super intruiging at this point!

Claudie

The actress who plays Miss Haung just finished her freshman year at Northwestern University. Like others have said it took me a while to get into the vibe of this season but I ended up absolutely loving it!

Jennyjoy

Gotcha thank you for these, and no, comments are never too late! :)

Claudie

Super late comment, sorry if it's a bit incoherent it's 6am where i'm at, just here to point out some details you may have missed, The supply closet is now a shelf instead of a walk-in room. Milkshake justifies it saying since there's no cameras or mics there's no need to hide there anymore. The presentation video claims that Lumon operates in 206 countries when there are 195. The presentation also reframes the ability to go on walks through halls being a "hall pass" perk despite them being allowed to do so in the first place. Milchick telling them they have a choice in not working is a nice way of saying "work or choose to die". Helly is the first to point out there's no microphones so they can speak freely about their experiences. Milkshake says it's been 5 months and he's still moving those boxes in, and the welcome screen still hasn't been changed. Clearly Lumon needs more employees! Got some more but they're a bit spoilery so I'll leave it at that. Can't wait for the next reaction!

Yep remember the bit about Cold Harbor, it's important

Claudie

Hahaha thank you Troubl!

Claudie

I got a screenshot of the ending that I can read and that is Ms Casey/Gemma, showing an ID no., Item no., and life support signs like heartbeat, respiration, temperatureโ€ฆweird thing at the top shows โ€œcold harborโ€ and it being at 68%โ€ฆ

My thoughts went to a similar direction. It being Helena would explain it all. But why would Helena do this? Maybe see for herself what her innie was talking about? Why she wanted to kill herself? How would her implant not work when she steps into the severed floor? Do they know about reintegration, too? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ƒ This is all so exciting, can't wait to see how this goes...๐Ÿ™ƒ

silverarrow06

OOOOOooooh, grrrrrrrrrllllll...... When Helly was spinning that BS story - Your gears were audibly grinding. A true pseudo-Sherlock moment! You looked like the human embodiment of a computer defragging.... as you re-crunched everything that had happened to that point to align with what you were currently seeing. Can't wait to see what you make of things going forward!

yurintroubl

Yeah! Finally able to watch it. Claudie, you were teasing us there for a bit at the start lol. Why a child? I am worried about Irvโ€ฆDylan is such a good friend. I think Helly lied about the outside because she is ashamed finding out she is an Eagan. She might be acting a bit weird because maybe she is a bit jealous of Ms Casey? I had to edit my comment because something else came to mind, what if Helly is no longer severed? What if that is Helena pretending to be Helly? What a start to season 2!

Ruby Nieto

Wait really, cause I was gonna say it's so similar to his run!

Claudie

Fun fact, Adam Scott studied how Tom Cruise runs in suits for Mark's running scene. He said that no one has a more iconic run than Tom

Moose

Yes the Keanu Reeves little addition is wonderful, and thank you so much for these! :)

Claudie

Yes I was unsure at first, whether I liked it, but now feel a bit better as I'm a couple of episodes ahead. Yes me too great element to it!

Claudie

First of all, I really dig your enthusiasm for this show. I am constantly amazed by the story, I can't wait to see where this is going...๐Ÿคฏ Random thoughts: - The subtle mimics of Tramell Tillman are such fantastic acting. In the beginning, when Mark stood up to him, how his fake smile subtly changes to cold anger was so chilling...๐Ÿ˜ฑ - Speaking of it, of all the creepy and weird things in this show, Milchiks fake smile is the creepiest thing in this show for me. I don't trust him as far as I can throw a piano. I'm with Dylan on that matter, he is lying most of the time. I think the "outie hero story" is a big pile of BS and I'm sure the "five months" are too. I think it was significantly less time, maybe only one or two days, a week at max. Rebelling Innies is a huge catastrophy for Lumon, they surely have reacted fast and hard. But since we only know the innies pov, we don't know what Lumon did outside to the outies. As Gwendolyn showed in her few heartbreaking lines with Mark, Innies only know their workspace, they've never seen the outside and are like children in many ways. For example: their workspace is in the basement and has no daylight, so they simply have no sense of time. You can tell them almost any kind of nonsense and they would believe it. - I found the beginning rather sad than funny. A child supervising adults? How humiliating is that? That shows the place of the innies in the Lumon hierarchy - work slaves that are treated as such. I think Milchik tries a different approach than Cobel, more carrot than stick - soothe the innies at all costs...๐Ÿค” Hence the "break room" now actually being a break room. - I think Mark is on the same floor the whole time, they just redecorated it. - Loved that Keanu Reeves was the voice of the building...๐Ÿ˜‚ - Something is off with Helly, I can't put a finger on it, but I'm with Irving and you, I don't trust her. Wtf is a night gardener? That is such an obvious lie...๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿค” She seems withdrawn, has nothing of her former lively energy, is lying to her friends. She even walks differently, last season she had more swing in her step...๐Ÿค” - As someone who wears glasses, I was so thankful to Irving for putting Dylans glasses up his nose. That bothered me the whole time in this scene...๐Ÿ˜… - They (or at least Mark) are working on Gemma in some way (who is probably down below on the testing floor), that's why Mark is the only Innie to return in the first place, he is important for whatever Lumon does down there. The others only show up when Marks threatens to stop working...๐Ÿค” - Hats off to whoever painted all the "biblical" Kier oil paintings, besides their disturbing motives they look really well done...๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™‚

Aw thank you so much, excited to share more!

Claudie

Somone just told me in the Disclaud hahaha, but I didn't at first

Claudie

"the branch is run by a shambolic rube who goes by... Milkshake" "oh my god" amazing acting mark s, good job bud.

Matildathepirate

Yay! Was looking forward to this reaction today! I agree that there is definitely a tonal shift with this season/episode. When it first came out I wasn't completely sure if I liked this difference. I loved the episode but the tonal shift made me miss the first season and made me worry that the second season might have lost some of the Severance flavor I loved. BUT I will say, looking back at the two seasons as a whole I understand why they did it and like that tonal shift of this episode a lot more now. I also love that they intentionally mimicked the long hallway scene from season 1 ep 1 at the beginning of this ep but with the urgency that came right off of the season 1 finale.

Christina Paz

Brings all the boys to the yard.

Kathryn Ellis

Anyone recognize the voice of the Lumon building yet? ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Mr Milkshake

MAROON

I am SO excited for your season 2 reaction! I am slightly obsessed with watching people react to Severance and you are one of my favorites! Definitely in for a wild ride! Just be sure to enjoy each episode equally :)

Kathryn Ellis

Yeah such a good opening episode! So so good! Excited to share more :)

Claudie

I love how excited you got for this episode! ๐Ÿ˜† Some interesting thingsโ€ฆthe running scene at the beginning took months to set up. It was partly done in studio, on a treadmill, and CGI. And apparently on the day of shooting. Adam was asked what flavor Gatorade he wanted, not knowing it was because he was going to be doing a lot of running. Him and Ben Stiller go into more detail about this in their podcast which is a great listen. I heard there was a bit of a โ€˜shakeupโ€™ with producers between the first and second season so maybe thatโ€™s why the tone feels different to you? The โ€˜night gardenerโ€™ thing cracks me up. Irv constantly finds a way to bring it up. Also, Helly not telling the team about the fact that sheโ€™s an Eaganโ€ฆbeing a bit embarrassed about it would make total sense to meโ€ฆMs.Huang was an interesting addition and I love everyoneโ€™s first reaction is that sheโ€™s a child ๐Ÿ˜‚ Really looking forward to your insights for the next episodesโ€ฆyouโ€™re in for a doozy! ๐Ÿ‘€
