Skal, you mentioned having a hard time finding sources for chinese sword information, I'm wondering if you've tried reaching out to any modern chinese martial arts communities, they might at least be able to translate some written chinese with you. I looked it up and there's a Hung Gar kung fu community near Halifax/Dartmouth that has pictures of students swinging swords on their website. If you want to reach out to someone online, there's a fun blog called Great Ming Military which finds and translates old Ming war technology scrolls. I love the historical chinese martial arts stuff, ancient/medieval china is such of treasure trove of undiscovered content. The conventional Chinese martial arts stuff is typically only from 1700s or 1800s.
