WOOT WOOT... I made it!! I'm here for the Series Finale with days to spare!! WOOT WOOT... Holy freakin crap! Ok... I have to say... IMO this episodes ending had a very big missed opportunity. Especially for a shows semi-finale. Let me explain. From the moment that rifle went "Bang"... To the impact of the bullet... To the "Stillness" as she fell... To the impact on the floor... To continued, complete stillness Screamed "Instant Death". My heart stopped. I don't think I took a breath the whole rest of the episode. From the moment the bullet hit she was perfectly still. Big caliber rifle, small caliber person, impact in the right spot = very good recipe for instant death. Everything they showed us after supported that theory. She never moved a muscle. Her eyes never moved, her lips never moved, no breath, no nothing. Perfect Stillness. Instant Death. So Why Did They Have To Take That Away????? Everyone's reaction following was Perfect! I felt every emotion. I felt the helplessness. I felt the desperation. I felt the denial. Everyone saying/thinking No no no no no... She's not dead, she's just shot. She needs help now. We have to go now. We have to get her to a hospital/doctor now. We are running out of time. We have to go now. We have to get her help. She's not dead... She's just been shot.... Tell me you didn't feel that as if you were there. All of that was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Writing in Every Way! Realistic response with realistic emotions to a "hard to believe this just happened" level traumatic experience. All of it felt Real. I (and most of the audience?) felt it so strongly. They Had Me! They Had Me Gooooood.... I didn't think the writers had it in them to get me that good if I'm being perfectly honest. I had set a low bar of expectations for how they were going to wrap up this story. So why did they have to take some of that suspense away in the final few seconds? Imagine watching this without those last few seconds... Imagine Daryl carrying Judith past the walker herd in that street, down that alley with the whole group clearing the way. Imagine that final scene up close on Daryl and Judith's faces really hitting us in the feels. Imagine just a fraction of a second before she cracked her eyes open and spoke they Cut To Black!!! Roll credits. See you next week for the Finale. IMAGINE. IMO if they did that and left the entire world audience not knowing if she was already dead, or if there was hope of saving her... They would have pulled off one of the best semi-finale cliffhangers I have seen in a long time. We could have rode that magnificent wave of suspense for an entire week waiting for the final episode. I would have been chewing on that thought every day. I would have been craving the final episode 100 times stronger. This is the Series Semi-Finale of the entire freakin show! We are supposed to be left in the biggest level of suspense humanly possible waiting for the Series Finale. Just my opinion of course. Obviously there is still a heck of a lot of suspense left for the final episode. Of course I'm not saying that one reveal took it all away. I'm just saying that it absolutely took some of it away. I want All the suspense I can have... not just some of it. I don't mean to ramble on and on. Clearly I enjoy this show or I would not be wasting my time writing all this. This show was one of my favorites when it first started. For years I enjoyed every second. And then of course the writing changed and I all but lost all love for it. Somehow they miraculously turned it around for the ending, renewing my excitement for it again. I just can't help but feel like there were a few missed opportunities that would have made it even better. Side note... I chose to watch these last few episodes without pausing every few min to take notes to comment with later... So yea. I know there was a heck of a lot of other good things to talk about but I don't remember what was in which episode. I'll have to go back and scroll through and take notes to comment on the other episodes (and complete this one) later. Really looking forward to your Finale Reaction!!!! OMG!. See you then. OMG!
