CRANE: ENTRY 017
JEREMIAH ARKHAM: This has to stop. There’s too much going on! No. No, I don’t want that. But he’s too close!
CRANE: Closer than you think.
ARKHAM: Dr. Crane! (drops phone into its cradle)
CRANE: Dr. Arkham.
ARKHAM: Uh, I – uh, didn’t expect to see you –
CRANE: Alive?
ARKHAM: Well, no – no, on the grounds. It’s not safe here.
CRANE: It’s not safe anywhere, Jeremiah. Now why don’t you tell me who was on that little ol’ phone, there?
ARKHAM: Oh, uh, no one of consequence.
CRANE: You REALLY don’t wanna push my buttons today, Jeremiah. A man, when pushed to his limit, is capable of unspeakable things.
ARKHAM: What are going to do?
CRANE: On a good day, I would breathe fear into you. But this is a bad, bad day. (cocks a gun)
ARKHAM: Oh, God.
CRANE: Start talking.
ARKHAM: He – he needed names. Profiles.
CRANE: Whose profiles?
ARKHAM: Inmates. Patients. He’s – looking for something, he won’t say what! He said he needed thinkers, brilliance.
CRANE: Why would you agree to that?
ARKHAM: He knew about our work. Our – research. He threatened to expose us. He knew you’ve been testing your toxins on inmates. I had to give him what he wanted. I had to give him – everyone.
CRANE: Jeremiah Arkham, what did you do?
ARKHAM: I gave him every profile I could think of. Tockman. Kinger. Brown. Nygma. Brilliant minds – the brilliant, and well, the fearless.
CRANE: You didn’t.
ARKHAM: I’m sorry, Jonathan.
CRANE: Who’s pullin’ the strings, Arkham?
ARKHAM: I can’t say! Too much is at stake!
CRANE: Jeremiah, I will kill you where you stand if you don’t – (machine gun fire) Son of a bitch!
ARKHAM: Oh, I’ve been shot!
CRANE: Dammit! Put your hand here! And – here. Keep pressure on and you’ll be fine. Did you see who it was?
ARKHAM: It was – it was you!
CRANE: Clayface. We need to get out of here.
ARKHAM: The alarm will have notified the police. Here. Take the next riddle. Escape out the rear sewer. I’m – I’m sorry, Jonathan.
CRANE: This isn’t over, Jeremiah. When this is through, you and I are gonna dance.
The Eighth Riddle:
"Heart of a feather?
I'll be the judge.
Held by the blind,
she can't hold a grudge."
