An autistic woman is reportedly unable to choose between letting people walk all over her, resulting in self-loathing, or being so assertive that everyone gets mad at her, resulting in self-loathing.
According to sources, Paige Thomas, 37, has tried a diplomatic middle ground on numerous occasions but that has led to her being read as “manipulative”, therefore causing even more offence.
Thomas explained: “I can either exhaust myself trying to please everyone or I can be in constant conflict with everyone I encounter. The third option is just lie down and die, which would also, apparently, upset people: I can’t win.”
“It’s a bit like having a choice between blowing my nose on my sleeve or my sock,” Thomas continued. “All paths lead to self-hatred.”
Work acquaintance Becky Armitage, 31, said: “Paige when you’re done blowing your nose on your sock, can you check over my copy? I’ve made a start. Well, I’ve written the heading. Anyway - it’s due in at midday. Thanks, you’re a lifesaver!”
Thomas could not be reached for a response as she had burrowed into the earth like a startled groundhog.
