An autistic woman has been left unable to recognise a friend after she had a very minor haircut, it has been reported.
Emma Bernard, 29, reportedly “totally blanked” Miya Wilkes, 31, after Wilkes got some blonde highlights and some subtle layers, with Bernard having failed to recognise her as the same human being she’d only seen one week earlier.
Bernard said: “I was at the pub and Miya - if it even WAS Miya - ran over and hugged me. I froze, thinking I was being kidnapped.”
“In my defence, she was out of context and appeared with no warning looking totally different,” Bernard continued. “She might as well have been wearing a giant comedy moustache and a monocle.”
Wilkes commented: “Emma was weirdly standoffish when I bumped into her. I think she hates my new haircut.”
