Autistic person who avoided ruining summer with family holiday ruins summer by holidaying with friends

An autistic person who managed to get out of a summer-destroying family holiday has instead fucked everything up by going on holiday with their friends.
Paige Thomas, 28, became entrapped in the unfortunate situation after bragging to friends about how they had evaded their family with an excuse about work.
Thomas said: “I was telling my friend Becky about how I knew my mum was going to ask me to go to France with every single person we’re even tangentially related to and came prepared with a story about an unavoidable work project. I was so proud until Becky was like ‘great - you can come to Italy with us instead’.”
“Obviously I couldn’t use the work excuse on her,” continued a distressed Thomas. “She was in on my bullshit.”
“By the time I realised I could have just said I can’t say no to my family and then fuck off to Italy, it was two in the morning a fortnight later and I was sharing a room with two snoring acquaintances in Bologna.”
Thomas’ mum, Liz Thomas, 56, commented on her child’s Instagram: “Is this your big work presentation then, Paige?”
