An autistic woman whose cat triggered her rejection sensitivity has spoken out about her ordeal.
Emma Bernard, 38, adopted two-year-old tortoiseshell McCatney from a local shelter six months ago but has since found herself being perpetually shunned.
Bernard said: “She only interacts with me at feeding time and even then it’s just to bite my finger if it gets in the way.”
“I was told torties were friendly and interactive but this one just sits on the other side of the room with her back to me. There’s nothing there but wall. What’s wrong with me?”
McCatney said: “What’s that? I can’t hear you unless you have a pack of Dreamies, food wench.”
