It's also Felix's anxiety and self-doubt self-sabotaging him again, just like what he's doing with Lisa. I also think that Felix is probably mentally banging his head against the table, immediately regretting sending that last message. And Jess regrets teasing Felix for more details about "Just Friends" (more detail about that in the next few strips)

Like sure they might just be friends, but it's not unreasonable that she might be interested in him after how much they have been hanging out and how close they've gotten. Telling others that they are just friends is correct, but dismissing the possibility that she might be into him during a private conversation with her, while in the same breath saying he'd be lucky for her to be interested in him, that's a fuck up that is likely to make her uncomfortable or a little hurt depending on how she feels about him. Its a lose-lose kind of statement. Maybe I'm wrong about straight women since I'm a lesbian, but I really don't think we are that different.
