Fancy Movie Time #13: The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972) & The Exterminating Angel (1962)

On this episode of Fancy Movie Time with Brian and A.J., the Fancy Lads embark on their first Double Fancy Feaster as they cover Luis Buñuel's duel take-downs of the ruling class: The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972) and The Exterminating Angel (1962). Does the surrealist imagery and droll humor make these dinner parties from hell into a Fancy Feast? Or does the languid pacing and overall caustic tone make them a Failure to Fancy? OR, and go with us here, what if they were...a secret third thing?

Has anyone recommended F for Fake yet? I'm sure Brian has seen it if not both of you, but ages ago in a college film mockumentary class it was a blast to talk about.

If my experiences with THC have taught me anything it's that, indeed, Enya Is Time

This isn't directed at AJ, to be clear. I was just reminded of a stupid internet thing. Please keep making these, Tool Time Tim grunts and all. I love Fancy Movie Tim, I mean Time

I'm with Brian, people should be brave enough to say they don't like things. You can dislike a thing you recognize is good! It's fine! One of my least favorite things by far is the social media habit of "I like this so it must be leftist and also the objectively the best" and "I dislike this, so it's objectively bad and also morally wrong to enjoy."
