The way I think of his movies is that they are movies meant for fascist societies or, even more meta, the world in which it takes place. The best example is Starship Troopers which is a film that would be made in a fascist society that is losing a war against the Bugs. Mildly subversive but with a big message of hope at the end as our attractive, square jawed protagonist gets the girl in the end and Zim got the queen too! This theory falls apart when you watch the Invisible Man…
