BOBUS - Whose Children Are They Anyway

We want to give you some exclusive bobus content every once in a while, so we mainlined some propaganda. Whose Children Are They? is a “documentary” that was created to persuade conservative parents to homeschool their children and/or pressure local public school teachers into leaving the union. We paid for this thing on streaming (lol) and took a two hour shotgun blast of poorly constructed bad faith talking points directly to the face.
We would not recommend watching this film to anyone, but we do hope you enjoy listening to our pain as we attempt to break down the rhetorical and systemic strategy that reactionaries use to target their own preferred audience. And for more context, make sure to listen to the interview that we also released today.

2023-12-13 05:35:44 +0000 UTCI went to a charter school in West Michigan (deep in Betsy DeVos country) that also happened to be one of the more liberal in the area, genuinely did not realize the deep issues with charters nor how harmful they can be. I had a number of outstanding teachers and actually got comprehensive sex ed in 5th, 8th, and 10th grade (we even talked about The Gays, and non-abstinence based safe sex). Your mileage may vary and I appreciate hearing this take. I will not be watching the film.
