that feeling when... | BEHIND THE SCENES

I tried my absolute hardest to create the least clickable title for this video, and I think I did a pretty good job. Similar to "$20k," it's easier for me to just refer to this video as "TFW" or "that feeling when..." and that's what I love about it. Nothing better than a title that gets abridged by its own creator.

Anyway, if you want to watch the behind the scenes footage, just click the video at the top of this page and pop in this password:

This was by far the most physically exhausting shoot I've done in a VERY long time. Who knew that dancing around in a mesh shirt in 25° F weather while lugging around camera equipment would be tiring?

It also helped produce this extremely great shot of Karen and I:

Just two normal people enjoying the snow. Karen is dressed for the weather. I, too, am dressed for the weather, kind of. The beautiful thing about filming goofy things in New York is that:

Also, you can see in the bottom of this pic that we're using a new camera (a Sony a7R)! It has INCREDIBLE autofocus, which is extremely necessary for solo shooting, especially when I'm doing shots where I'm dancing around and moving out of the focal range quickly. I love my Canon C100, but this camera is smaller and easier to set up, which will help me shoot things a little faster when Karen needs to work at her actual job. The only reason I could get this camera was thanks to your support on Patreon, and I hope it helps us make better videos in the future! Thank y'all so much.

That said, I am extremely excited that this next video will be shot entirely indoors. I'm still achy from doing so many high kicks in the snow.

Can't believe it's been a year since this video, which when I saw my own handle in the credits made me go "Oh huh, I guess I'm also partly culpable for this existing now." I still don't like pickles.

Is this video not accessible for anyone else? I get an error that its a private video but instead of taking me to the password page the window just goes black. Haven’t run into this on any other of these video posts. Hoping there’s something i can do to fix it cause this is the video i was most looking forward to watching Edit: seems to be working now, and it was everything i hoped it would be. Absolutely heckin’ iconic.

Alex Derbe

This video absolutely destroyed me. It whittled me down to a nub. I can't thank you enough.

...also karen’s reaction faces are incredible

Potch

I loved the color grading on this video, and the edge lighting when you first throw your head to the sky!

Potch

I love this video but as usual my stupid brain latched onto something dumb. Is that a signed picture of Michael Shannon on your fridge, and if so, did you meet him and if so, is he nice?

Angelique Lisboa

I watched these videos yesterday and then Brian and Karen were in my dream last night. Very disconcerting. Felt like I had to share with someone sooooo you're welcome I guess

Has anyone asked where you got those pants yet?

I feel like BDG is now Marvel's only real choice to play Kraven the Hunter.

SoSo_Tsundere

The real question is how many pickles did you go through for this video

Cinnamon Shakes

the crows worried my cat, also known as my bird prevention manager

Annoyance

Where can I go buy the clothes I need to steal this look?

karen is my absolute favorite

Brian I love you and I love this video but please for the love of God burn those trousers immediately

Dan Snelling

Feeling very zjierb rn

Jimbleshanks

"MA'AM THOSE ARE HIS NIPPLES" but seriously, kudos to freezing your taddies off in the name of art. And possibly everything else, I dunno how insulating those fancy dancy pants are.

Abyss

This is excellent, though now I also need a word for the feeling of watching someone take a bite out of a pickle and then put it back into the jar.

Tintin and the Picaros is an A+ book for an A+ video. My older brother had the series from Tintin in America through to the Picaros *and* Asterix volumes 1-28 because he and my parents lived in England for 2 years, so I was lucky enough to read them as an American kid!

"Oh this outfit? It's a work expense." - Brian, probably at some point

Shade Montague

"Maybe I attracted them... craw!" I love how this just shows Brians genius weirdness even outside of any scripts

Actually, I never wanted to know what your chest looked like. I didn't know that I didn't want that before. But now I know. Zjierb.

Alexis Simonow

hmm, "zjierb" and "zjierbness" don't convince the the thing that judges convincing-but-not-real scrabble words (https://mkremins.github.io/blabrecs/) but i had to look them up to convince myself, so good job there

Scezumin

I'm very curious. Did you come up with the idea for this video after biting into a pickle and realizing there was no way to express the feeling, or did you come up with the rest of the video first and then try to think of an absurd but relatable experience to act as the inciting moment?

Goomba Smoosher

great stuff, big shoutout to karen for her excellent work too <3

marley

The crow scene was a masterpiece!

AJ Lorentz

Utterly iconic ❤️

Wow the part with Karen eating the pickle was hysterical. Great video Bryan keep it up.

Spencer Ward

I hate feeling zjierbness
