Some exploratory art for The Devil comic.

The land around Altar Lake is full of out of place oddities and strangeness. If you travel out into the wilderness far enough, you begin to see what looks like pieces of other people's lives integrated with the woods. Part of a bedroom, wallpapered cave walls peeling in the damp dark, and even a working grandfather clock housed inside a tree.

What's going on here?

Rhys' name tag from his job is also included for fun. I doubt it'll show up much more than it already has in the comic, but I enjoyed trying to inject his personality into as many places on his uniform as possible, even adding the smudged drawings he's made on it.

Most people don't enjoy the jobs we take to get by on our way to something better. Rhys is no exception. I tried to hint at it with the terrible graphic design choice of merging the sun logo into the "O" in "HELLO", which, at a glance, looks like "HELL" with a mocking sunny logo side by side.

It most likely won't surprise you that part of the original concept of this comic was my way of expressing frustration with the my day job. It barely pays my bills and is often taxing on my mental health, but it has allowed me to dedicate myself to learning more about art and being a part of this community. So if you're reading this, thank you for being a patron. I hope you can dive deep into the world around Altar Lake and grow to love the stories I craft. I hope you see a little of yourself and the people you love in the citizens of this weird little town deep in the mountains. And, as always, I hope you get a little hot under the collar when things get up close and personal. The encounter is coming.
