Kat gets involved in AR in order to provide financially for herself and her younger sister, filling in the role of a mother figure. She feels responsible for her sister's injury from a few years earlier, and is stuck emotionally on atoning for an accident that may not actually be her fault. Ever the practical pragmatist, She feels it is her duty to stay grounded and protect her sister from the harsh real world (even if that ironically means jumping into AR).
She gets nervous under pressure, but has strong convictions about her own duties, and can overcome her fear for the sake of others. While not usually prone to acts of theft (especially not for her own benefit), the pressure of supporting her family can force her to take advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself, but in her view, it's all in service of providing support for her sister.
