Update Post!! Nov. 4th, 2024 (+Note about recent Patreon billing update!)
Added 2024-11-04 22:51:04 +0000 UTCHey Patrons! After taking off a few days to recharge my batteries, here's your first update for November '24!
I managed to barely eek out 5 songs last month: 2 PRL songs in Ripe Seeds and Deku Palace, the two Halloween Poll songs, as well as the bonus Halloween song Mad Monster Mansion.
I'm hoping to do similar this month and knock out another 5. Here's a look at the to-do list:
- Next: Lichdragon Foritssax (Elden Ring)
- TBA: Necrofantasia (Touhou: Perfect Cherry Blossom) *(Discord Request Battle winner)
- TBA: Memories of You (Persona 3)
- TBA: Not Alone (Final Fantasy IX)
- TBA His World (Sonic '06)
- TBA Arrow of Time (Cassette Beasts)
- Nov/Dec: Baking the Wondertart (Cuphead DLC)
- TBA: Project Peppermint, GBA Medley 2, Wii Medley
Lichdragon Fortissax will be next up, likely followed by the recent GaMetal Discord Request Battle winner Necrofantasia. I've been working on just about every song on the to-do list at the moment, the rest of the order will be decided along the way.
We also have two more songs to add to the list tomorrow: our monthly stream PRL pick, and my monthly handpicked PRL choice. Our monthly Patreon stream will take place at our usual date and time of November 5th, starting around 4:00 PM US Eastern time. We'll have the request list fully up to date tomorrow morning.
Important note about Patreon's recent billing update!!
As was announced by Patreon a couple of months ago, as part of a year-long process to axe the per-creation model and meet new legal requirements set by Apple, Patreon pledges on per-creation pages that are paid for using the Apple iOS Patreon app now incur a 30% fee. Creators have been given the choice to pay the fee ourselves or to pass the fee on to the pledger. I have chosen to pay the fee myself as I don't want anyone to suddenly see a 30% markup in their pledge.
This fee can be averted by setting up payment on desktop or any other way that isn't the iOS app. So, for anyone that has set up their payment using iOS, it'd be very helpful for myself and any other Patreon creators choosing to pay the fee ourselves if you set up your payment on desktop rather than the iOS app. This likely applies to a very small amount of you (most people have said that they set up payment on desktop when we talked about it), either way, for the GaMetal Patreon, you should be seeing no change in charge. If it's more convenient for you to pay using the iOS app, by all means do so! 🙂
When we enter 2025, I'll be starting preparations for the big switch in November of next year. I'll fill you in more with the plans and info when the time comes.
That's all for now, let's get this to-do list cleared out and prepare to end the year with a bang like we always do, I'll see you again tomorrow for our stream!
TL;DR: Lichdragon Fortissax next up, aiming for another 5+ songs this month, rest of song order to be determined, stream tomorrow at usual date/time Nov 5th, 4:00 PM US Eastern. Patreon's new Apple iOS payment fee went into effect this month, it'd be a big help for myself and any other creators if you could set up payment on desktop or any other non-Apple iOS method (but if you can't no worries!). Thank you for being amazing!

I missed the announcement of Not Alone getting picked so that was a wonderful surprise!

2024-11-05 13:10:10 +0000 UTCThat's still good news though. I wonder if Patreon still wants to pass on the fee onto the user or the creator and keep the per-track anyway. I doubt it, but still. It gives more flexibility. In an ideal world, Apple wouldn't be doing this and Patreon wouldn't have to drop the "per creation" model.
