Listening Party: Attack on Titan Part I: Endings

Comments

honestly can never listen to Akuma no Ko and Utsukushiki calmly, such an emotional outburst! my most favorite :)

Yev

What a coincidence you dropped this video as I was waiting in line to watch a "Symphony On Titan" show here in Paris 🤣

Ana Sofia

my fav is "Great Escape" (lol) and 2nd "name of Love". The first one is also good. I also HATE that one creepy song - fitting to it was the Ending Video: it was that one creepy Story Book where we see that "Devil" with Ymir and the Story of the Titan through time and the previous War between Eldian and Marley.

Comment Numero 7: I do not have a proper ranking of all endings as I have in the case of openings, but my top 3 is: 1) Nisennen... Moshiku wa... Nimannen Go no Kimi e... 2) Akatsuki no Requiem 3) Itterasshai 4) Akuma no Ko 5) Shōgeki 6) Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai 7) Yūgure no Tori 8) Name of Love 9) Under the Tree 10) Great Escape Side note: Now looking at it, I might eventually edit this comment and rank it all, it is not as hard as I thought, I just listen to the openings WAY MORE and right now I cannot wait and watch the next listening party!! Another side note: It is already edited, it was easier than I thought, only Yūgure no Tori and Name of Love is neck to neck and I was not sure immediately.

Comment Numero 6: Nisennen... Moshiku wa... Nimannen Go no Kimi e... is being played by the very end, when we get to see Mikasa sitting by the tree remembering Eren, thanking him for the scarf and then we get to the future future part of the after credit scene. Trivia from the internet: Although not credited, the song features Mikasa's voice actress Yui Ishikawa and Eren's voice actor Yuki Kaji (they sing along there together at one moment) The section of the song sung by Yui Ishikawa is a reference to a previous Linked Horizon song about Mikasa, "13 no Fuyu (a song about Mikasa’s feelings and 13 winters (13 years) of Eren’s life before he dies) The lyric "Not knowing the names of the mourning flowers (Tomurai no hana no namae mo shirazu)" is a reference to the lyric "Unknown are the names of the flowers that have been trampled (Fumareta hana no namae mo shirazu ni)" from Guren no Yumiya (the first opening). The verse which introduces Revo in the song is a reference to the ending of Season 3 Part 1, "Requiem der Morgenröte." The song references "Guren no Yumiya" during the verse sung by Revo. "Saigo no Kyojin" is briefly referenced in the outro as well. The lyrics "The world has broken the boy's sword" mirror the lyrics to Guren no Yumiya, which say "the boy will pick up the black sword. So as I mentioned in my previous comment, it creates perfect full circle having Guren no Yumiya as the first song and this one as the last one!

Comment Numero 5: Nisennen... Moshiku wa... Nimannen Go no Kimi e... (二千年... 若しくは... 二万年後の君へ・・・, To You, in 2,000 Years... Or Perhaps... 20,000 Years...) is the absolute best for me. At the very end that is Eren’s voice saying the songs title, basically referencing the whole message to the world. I plan to include a reference to this song in one of my upcoming tattoos and this song is one of my 5 songs I would play at my funeral, it would be played as the last one to have Eren’s words “end my life” and the funeral experience. (The whole playlist for my funeral is Guren no Yumiya by Linked Horizon (the first opening), Goodbye by 2NE1, Space Oddity by David Bowie, Still Life by BIGBANG and then this one).

Comment Numero 4: Akumo no Ko went viral, not to the level as Under the Tree, but these two are definitely the most known ones. In case anyone is confused… Under the Tree is officially an ending. People sometimes label it as an opening, because the final arc was originally released in two special episodes of an hour each and Under the Tree plays there at the end, but it was played AT THE END + then for the episodic release they brought back Linked Horizon to have the last opening to finish his journey and they replaced Under the Tree with Itterasshai. “Itterasshai, Eren” are Mikasa’s last words to Eren…

Comment Numero 3: Akatsuki no Requiem… I mean… Linked FUCKING Horizon and Revo’s vision… they should have let him do it all, openings & endings… I love when this ending starts playing along the scene of Carla (Eren’s mother) says her son does not have to be special, because he is already perfect the way he is just because he was born. It always makes me cry and even listening to this song I get teary eyed. The choir of children is fitting for that so good! Revo worked with them on another song he released as a b-side on the single album of this song. (Yeah… he would release multiple songs, which were not even used in the anime, but those songs were reflecting something regarding the story). The other song with this choir is: Tasogare no Rakuen (黄昏の楽園, Twilight Paradise) This song is about the past and the Karl Fritz's desire to make a brief paradise: https://music.apple.com/cz/album/tasogare-no-rakuen/1435021556?i=1435021557

Comment Numero 2: 14:05 - “On personal level, I kinda hate it” Funny… This ending was used in the second season, you never finished playing it (I think), because even the scenes of the ending there are creepy. It shows those old Eldian people being turned into titans and occupying lands of other nations. And… Shinsei Kamattechan is the same group that did Boku no Sensō opening (the World War II one…), this group is simply WEIRD
