One of the most fascinating things about this show that can't really be seen until now honestly is that there was definitely an intention behind each debut. Of course the contestants in LASTART are extremely talented; however those selected for the debut lineup seemed to be mostly picked because of their connections/synergy to each other, which I found interesting. Ah, Anderson. Nearly everyone agrees that while he could have made the final lineup (talent wise), there's also some clear reasons he didn't- mostly because that he'd A) have to struggle with both korean AND japanese and B) he didn't really fit the final concept SM most likely had in mind for NCT New Team at that time. Honestly, I feel as if this could apply to any of the non-JP members that ended up not debutting... again, just some things I found interesting!

2025-11-10 18:35:11 +0000 UTCPD, do not get too excited for Anderson, because he won't debut unfortunately, or at least not yet, he has a girfriend right now. Actually you might know her from Pop Star Academy, it is Marquise. So both of them probably don't have a chance to debut now.

Plus, the judges have a vested interest in creating the group with the best members possible, as they know and work with these trainees and will continue to do so after their debut. I also find that with no fan voting, there is no "evil editing" or created conflict between the trainees that you often get with other survival shows.

2025-11-10 15:42:55 +0000 UTCYay! I’m super excited! I been waiting for thisss😝😝 What I love about this show is the judges and creative panel and how they give their advice to the trainees. I feel like they give good and easy to understand feedback. Like there will always be trainees that get it and improve and ones that don’t but I love how detailed the advice is to each trainee as opposed to when there are so many trainees that we get barely any screen time or even see if they got feedback or not. I guess it also does have to do with the amount of trainees yes but the quality of the judges is top tier for me. Can’t wait for the next!

2025-11-10 15:19:35 +0000 UTCFun little bit of Yushi lore but he has actually been in SM since even before NCT debuted! He first auditioned in 4th grade but did not pass. He auditioned again and passed in 2015 when he was 11 years old. At that time he became an apprentice/summer trainee and only trained during the summer due to his age. He then became a full time trainee in 2018. So he's been around for a long time which is why various NCT members remember him. Before wanting to become a singer he wanted to become a football player and he even attended AC Milan training camps in Italy. He was also a predebut member of the japanese boygroup EDAMAME BEANS. They had that poor boy doing everything. Now on to the show I think this is one of my favorite survival shows. It wasn't as popular as other survival shows despite it being made by SM Entertainment since it was advertised as NCT's Japanese Unit (which they definitely toned down on this marketing once they realized that NCT Wish is also extremely popular in Korea) and there was no voting from the audience. Which is actually one of my favorite aspects since trainees are judged more on their performance/talent rather than looks. But anyways! I am so excited to re-watch/re-experience some of these stages again!

I have just searched for the information to double check on that, because I remember her being mention as the producer of theirs for the debut, but some articles mentioned she would handle their whole career, so I was not sure 100%

2025-11-10 14:55:35 +0000 UTCSo I provided you the pre-show videos too late, never mind… it was not super important. I thought you knew Yushi and Sion were set to debut. The long awaited and planned NCT Tokyo was supposed to be formed of: Sungchan, Shotaro, Eunseok, Seunghan, Shohei and Yushi with Sion. Shohei is the only you do not know. He is a rapper and dancer from Japan, who is also into composing and visual art. He was pretty much the key figure for this unit. Currently the best comparison to him is Martin of Cortis… Sion and Yushi were not introduced to us at that time, because SM was switching them between this unit and Riize (there you go why Sungchan and Shotaro were taken out of NCT for Riize). But at one point the formation was set and they just wanted to have them as surprise, because Seunghan, Eunseok and Shohei were introduced in NCT Universe as the upcoming members and even performed with Sungchan and Shotaro at SM concert. The vision for this unit was something like WayV around the On My Youth (or earlier) era with Shohei being sooner or later involved in their music. But Shohei got injured and had to come back to Japan for his recovery (I believe it was something with his back). Also… SM at that time was going against Lee Soo Man and HYBE, because Kakao was trying to acquire them (SM). Many people were disappointed with the situation and SM’s need to be under Kakao (higher ups in SM had secret deals with Kakao people…) and so they: 1) Did not want to wait for Shohei to debut the OG NCT Tokyo 2) Wanted to debut a new boygroup so bad 3) Wanted to please fans that NCT will stop growing and the new Tokyo unit is the last one And so they decided to form Riize with Sungchan, Shotaro, Seunghan and Eunseok + new members (till this day I do not get why they did not choose Sion and Yushi for Riize, like Seunghan and Eunseok at least did not participate on NCT discography, but Sungchan and Shotaro had debuted and promoted and everything with NCT…) and launch this survival show to form the new and last NCT unit with Sion and Yushi being the “mentors”, like they had trained for a long time, but having Sungchan and Shotaro as the set members helping the rest would have made more sense, since they had debuted… And then the history of Riize you are familiar with 🫣🫣 (Seunghan…) and Shohei nearly debuted with SM’s modern trot group (yeah, they had a rapper with actual rap lines in a trot songs) Mytro, but the group disbanded after a few pre-debut songs, which were released through a pre-debut show. In case anyone reading this have not noticed… despite me liking NCT Wish, I was hyped for NCT OG Tokyo and I am heavily biased to Shohei, who ended up being in this weird “SM void of not debuting ever, because he was born in 1996, so he is too old now…) (Considering Koki is also Japanese and also a dancer, I feel like I have some weird power to curse my favorite ones into not debuting and staying in the pre-debut time forever 😬😬)
