Attack on Titan EP 93 + 94 (Finale)

Wow such a journey

Otto

Some time ago I mentioned I recently came up with an idea to “solve” everything out. I would like to share it here, because like 3 years ago you shared this post (https://www.patreon.com/posts/73764940?utm_campaign=postshare_fan), where you shared your thoughts about things related to life/our history and I recommended Shingeki no Kyojin for this exact reason (thinking about “the point of it all”/any purpose). When I was like 12 or 13 years old I had an idea that if there are no people and only animals can stay alive, our planet and all those animals will only benefit from it, because there will be no human to continue destroying the planet and there will be no human using animals for their good plus there will be no conflicts and wars, because there will be no person to say: “We are right and they are wrong”. And so if literally every human was anaesthetized, “everything would be solved” and it is up to the destiny/higher force if the evolution process would start all over again with different animal(s), because I also question a lot if the human evolution was not just a mistake of nature, which happened unintentionally and it was too late to stop it and so our history full of horrible things happened. Because the fact of how we treat animals may be the reason why they do not develop us we did… like they might have needed more time than us (which happens even within human kind that some people are slower leaners), but because we treat the world in the way we do, the slower animals do not have the opportunity to evolve, but that is a different topic. I was highly aware that my idea would kill innocent people too, but that was the point… nobody can be viewed as innocent as “worthy to live”, because the goal would be to end this cycle for good. Then I went to Lady Gaga concert and my mind received the reality check I needed that it would be truly wrong to kill literally everybody. And so I continue growing up trying to find any solution, but after a while I took a break and then I found out about Shingeki no Kyojin and my life was complete 😅😅 But besides that I started to wonder about this topic again and then I realized the solution would be if each person could live in their own world according to their preferences. Regardless if those preferences are good or bad or right or wrong. It is not physically possible to have something like this, but that is the thing… we cannot think about it as if it was meant to happen in the physical/real world. Here we get to the FANCY aespa lore… If we were able to transfer ourselves completely to digital form, our planet Earth would be started to be cleaner and less affected by us, animals and everything would be better. And now you might be asking if wars and everything wouldn’t be even worse in the digital realm and the answer is that we all would have to not only transfer ourselves into the digital form but also each of us would have to have their own metaverse just for them, so nobody else could have any impact on it. Basically as if everybody fell into a dream and never woke up. Everybody could do whatever they want in their digital dream. So technically even bad people would continue doing bad things, but it would only be in their minds not harming others. And all in all everybody would be living their happiest dream ever. The tricky thing is people do not like their reality to be taken from them and so this all would have to happen even anybody being aware of that. As if AI and technology got so advanced that we wouldn’t even notice we have been transfered into our digital dream. Obviously you need some source of energy and huge server/anything to be able to keep all those metaverses running, so this idea is really far away at this point. But it is not impossible to ever happen in the future… if we take a look on the history and progress of technology within past decades. I talked about this with Meta AI and they said that eventually the server would stop working, which is true. That would mean one giant execution of all of us would happen, but as we live now… something like that might eventually happen regardless, just look at the after credit scene of Shingeki no Kyojin… And technically if a new life (either from another kind of animals or even if it was from monkeys all over again) happened, this server/information about our history which led to this would serve as a big message to the next generation of “human” kind to try to be wiser with their decisions in their time line and technically some progress could have happened. As we see in the post credit scene here too… the person is not walking into the tree alone, they are walking with a dog. Whereas Ymir was being chased by dogs, when she was running to the tree… But obviously even this idea is not 100% perfect, because I can imagine the “next human kind” trying to do something with the “backlog” of our metaverses (therefore our brains/minds) until the moment of it running out of energy and so it could lead into trying to revive some of us or to fuse them with us or technically even trying to create digital alternative timelines and placing either them or us to the certain moments to recreate history or something and in that scenario everything gets fucking crazy and messy, since everything would lose its identity and personality and the concept of time would be all over the place. Wait a moment… this is exactly what happened to Eren… huh… Damn… SHINGEKI NO FUCKING KYOJIN!! Despite me being such a ultra fan/borderline fanatic, I always realize and find something new! That is it! Next time the listening party is our final goodbye with this and I am not ready… I literally question myself if I should rewatch it with your reactions all over again 😅😅

The biggest “What if?” of this show has been answered, so I wanted to dedicate for that its own comment… Now we know the answer if it was the right choice to save Armin over Erwin. Regardless of what Erwin would have done in any scenario, Armin had to be the one, who goes against Eren and becomes the hero. Nice foreshadowing was in the scene, when Levi was making his choice, because Eren said (at the time he did not know it would happen): “Armin is the one, who will save the world/humanity” In cases like this one people need one specific person, who will be known as the saviour, who will be the hero. Sure… regardless of what Erwin’s take on all of this would have been, he could have pretended he shares the same opinion as Armin (to stop Eren… like for example as if either Eren agreed on this with him or forced him…). But I am not sure whether Erwin would have wanted to be involved in the aftermath part of being politician + even if he wanted to do so, Armin has way more “human-like” nature in himself to be able to communicate with both people of Paradito and people from the rest of the world. Saving Erwin would have meant it is more likely to finish the rumbling 100% and basically make Paradito people “the winners” and that might actually be the answer why Eren planned it this way to make them stop him rather than killing everybody outside of Paradito… Sure… technically it would have provided them freedom for way longer period of time, since it is less likely people of Paradito would fight each other SOONER than the 20% of world outside Paradito attacking people on Paradito as soon as it is possible. BUT! I think Eren did not want his friends to be remembered as the murderers of the world and being viewed as any other nation, which “won”the war/occupied different nation. One big hint to all of this right from the beginning is that Armin is the story teller and him preparing his speech in the boat at the very end is like as if he was going to tell them the story we have just finished. Also… here comes the last and 5th critique I have against this piece of work… 1st: Bertholdt disappearing immediatelly after he kicks through the wall for the second time (in the district of Trost that time), despite Eren attacking him literally right once he appears there and so it was not possible for Bertholdt to vaporize his titan for so soon that there would not be any skeleton or the steam and temperature would have to so fucking hot that Eren would end up burnt completely 2nd: Reiner transfering his consciousness to some random part of his body right at the exact moment Levi cuts through his neck ultra fast… 3rd: Ymir (Ymir of the gang) joining Bertholdt and Reiner at the end of season 2 just because she found out about Eren having the Founding Titan and so she figured they (Paradito people) had a chance regardless of her staying and helping them (although her providing them all the information needed would have helped a lot and made things move super fast) and she rather joined those two just to help them out, so Marley is not extra mad at them for losing 2 titans (the Female Titan and the Jaw Titan) + not finishing their task of bringing the Founding Titan back), because apparently her coming back with them and sacrificing herself, so someone else can inherit the Jaw Titan, makes the whole situation less bad… 4th: Lara Tybur/the Warhammer Titan being so unutilized… I get that this titan is easily over-powered if it is given to someone trained or you train the titan shifter to make the most of it, but then… make it less over-powered or at least make the story around the titan/its shifters someone interesting… I do not know… 5th: Eren transforming into the Colossal Titan form just for the sake of fan service and giving us big final fight of two giant titans… I mean… sure… the explanation is that Eren knew what was going to happen, so he was well prepared to use the Founding Titan’s power at literally the last second to give himself the Colossal Titan’s power/to make his titan mimic the Colossal one, but even if we put aside the factor of Zeke dying and so the royal blood not being “active” anymore, because one can say that Ymir was on Eren’s side… it just feels like the Reiner case and him being impossible to kill just because of the plot… By the way… speaking of Colossal Titan… Isayama did not have space to draw this, but he said all the mindless colossal titans would turn back to human form after it was all done and they would be lynched by the people who were about to be trampled

This comment is answering your questions and points. But! Before I start… It is not official, but Bruno Mars wrote Die With A Smile after he watched Shingeki No Kyojin… and reading the lyrics with this in mind makes people think the song was based on the story of Mikasa and Eren. Here is a reel edit for that: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAxgwNxtFOB/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link 3:30 - (the father joke) - LooL. I have never thought about that. Imagine the kid in the future asking the man of what happened to his parents and he will be just: “Well… there was this thing called the rumbling” 5:15 - The “sheep” titan is Ksaver (the previous Beast Titan holder, who was teaching Zeke) 17:55 - (Mikasa killing Eren) “Itterasshai, Eren” (See you later, Eren) is the name of the ending of this final part of this season, the ending was referencing this moment the whole time. Which is interesting because she is not saying goodbye, but like: “Until we meet again” 23:03 - (Eren revealing he sent Dina to eat his mother) And that is the final twist of it all!! Just imagine if Dina ate Bertholdt and turned back to human form and said everything to everyone within the walls + she would be the Colossal Titan 29:20 - (the Armin & Eren conversation part) Here Armin originally said he is glad his friend is genocide level murderer, but it was viewed really weirdly and so for the anime adaptation Isayama decided to rephrase that 33:22 - (Levi’s Shinzō wo sasageyo gesture) makes me cry so bad + Sasha appearing to Connie and Jean 🥹🥹 35:30 - (Your question how Mikasa gets to Paradito without Falco/any titan powers) It’s not like only titans are not a thing, but the Ackerman power is gone too, since it was based on science experiments with titan powers and so this “superhuman family tree was created”. Isayama himself said that Mikasa became clumsy all of sudden. But to answer you, most likely Azumabito family provided her a plane or a ship to get there, since we know from the “3 years later part” that Azumabito clan visits Paradito and they are in cooperation with them 36:55 - That shot represents that Ymir let King Fritz die (instead of sacrifising her life for him as it actually happened) and she could do this because she saw Mikasa being able to kill Eren, so she finally let herself free (you did not say anything at this moment, but the shot there was so random and it was not clear how Ymir mind works) Your question about Levi and his injury: Well, he lost his Ackerman powers anyway. But it is unclear if he ended up on a wheelchair for the rest of his life or just for some time, but it was three years since the injury happened, so… The ending credit scene part: The singer of the ending song is Mikasa’s voice actor and when you listen to the studio version of the sing you can hear a male voice joining her and that is Eren’s voice actor! 44:33 - Here you asked about the people visiting Eren: Isayama said it is up to interpretation, it could be anyone, but at the shot at 44:50 we can see she has a ring on her finger, so she died married to somebody 47:00 - (The very last moment before the song ends) And yes… the cycle begins all over again. Same as Ymir entered the place under the tree and titans become a thing, we see another person (who looks similar to Mikasa) walking to the same thing, but this time a dog is walking with the person, so there is at least some form of progress compared to Ymir, who was chased by dogs… To answer your question about what Eren accomplished: As he says himself… he is just an idiot, who happened to be able to make all of that happen based on literally a child’s dream/wish (now I will skip the question of actually gave him the power, since “he gave it himself on his own”…) and so his goal/what he accomplished is that he made sure his friends will live a life without a war and basically so called “normal life”, which they could not have because of being Eldians (regardless if they were Eldians living in Liberio or on Paradito… same walls… same shit). Although he also says he did not accomplish it, because Sasha and Hange had to die. But this is probably the best answer to what he accomplished and well… technically we only know that Mikasa did live a long life… we do not know about others. I think this idea of him appreciating being with his friends the most and him wishing the best for them is obvious through the anime only after credit scene in the Last Attack Movie. Mikasa and Armin starts “fighting” whether his or her opinion/point of view is “the right one” (as conflicts and wars start to happen too) and Eren’s answer is he is glad he could be with them and if he gets the chance again, he wants that to happen again

What I love about this story is the sad reality of humanity being kind of determined to be its own enemy regardless of what you try to change. I have spent ages & my whole youth thinking about the point of it all here and what to do to “find the solution” for us. Which is basically like Eren in the paths trying all the alternatives and yet… only he could do is to let Eldians join the system, so they can fight “more equally”. And the most heart-breaking part of this is the fact that Eren had to pre-determine it all to be able to be trying to search for it. Like he literally made himself see his mother being eaten alive, so he could go for all of this. The tragic factor that he had to give up his mentality and sanity for this to happen and still… the history will repeat itself. And so it serves as a form of proof that there is literally no way to save human kind. The second thing I love about this story is the real factor of it all happening “just because it happened” as life itself, when you think about it. Basically the conversation Zeke and Armin had. Like the whole story just top to bottom reflects us as people without even trying to say it out loud at the first place and then you realize it all and you also realize it is happening “because it is happening”. But the final reason why I love this story so much is that it manages to be a love story, despite Shingeki no Kyojin is anything but a love story, when you enter the world either through manga or anime. Because when you think about it the story is about Ymir not being able to move on from the King Fritz and so she needed someone else (Mikasa) to view herself in her and learn from her the important thing she was not able to do on her own. Which was to let King Fritz die and free herself and she was able to do so after she saw Mikasa being able to kill Eren. I know, it sounds weird… but well… Ymir was indeed an unusual person to love somebody like King Fritz so deeply… I always say that love is something so unique for each individual and so everybody understands it differently. So I cannot comment on Ymir’s feelings. But I like the idea of feelings being so strong and “above it all” that she stayed loyal to him even after she died and so this whole titan thing continued. I mean… in the context of Ymir it is truly sad and toxic… but if I take the idea alone (feeling being so strong to this level) I cannot disagree. Because I am of the believe that if there is something truly eternal and forever, it is feelings/emotions and thoughts. Regarding thoughts there is not much to say since it is obvious… if your thoughts are remembered by others, you will never be forgotten. When it comes to feelings the best example I have is Harry Potter and Lily’s love for Harry being so strong that the emotions became beyond any magic and spells and so it could protect him. And so if you love somebody and you die, it does not mean the emotions died with you. You might have loved so much that those feelings stayed here and continued living on. I will be writing another comment soon answering your questions and pointing out fan facts as always. I am just really tired because I traveled to Paris and back just for the G-Dragon concert and I did not sleep much + I had to stand a 5 and half hours long queue for a merch in a rainy day… And so today I told myself I have to make my time to comment at least this and so I went to my favorite Nepali restaurant to drink my favorite masala cheeya with milk (a cup of tea) to write at least this comment to make it “on time” so you still read it, while you check the most recent posts’ comment section.

In the movie The Last Attack there is very final after credit scene, which literally references the thing (the dinosaur part) you pointed out. With VPN I still can see the movie being on the US Crunchyroll, I do not know what went wrong on PD’s side. I mean, the after credit scene is just anime-only bonus, which was meant to be reflecting fans’ feedback to the end. Isayama wrote the scene himself to give the anime very final and special/bonus ending.

After finishing this series, the fact that technically they foreshadowed from the start about how eren did not survive in the end because armin has always been the narrator despite eren being the MC. And with what armin said in the end, he wants to tell the story they experienced to the world, which in this case being us as time goes on. Makes it feel like we live in their timeline and titans are just things of the past like dinosaur level, which i find very interesting to immerse.

Shira-Ou

welp hold that thought you answered my question in the video LMAO typed so fast while you were still talking hsdfkjsdkfb

chim

what did you think about the ending PD? i remember it being so controversial when the manga's ending was released. a lot of people were not happy with how eren's story ended. personally, i feel like he fulfilled his main purpose, he wanted his friends to live and have freedom, he's said this a bunch of times throughout the series. and some say he accomplished nothing cause the cyle is gonna repeat itself (as what the after credits entails), as you said, it's up to the people after his time. what happens after is soooo out of his hands.

chim

i thought id just be watching your reaction to this but damn i cried all over again like it's the first time i've watched this

chim

was waiting for that finale. woah what a show
