I assume you have finished it all already. I do not want to spoil anything for others here in case they read it, but I will only say many things had been determined throughout the whole story, so Eren knew what has to happen and what has to be done…

Regarding who’s will it is (Ymir’s or Eren’s). To be fair… Armin’s assumption makes sense, but Eren started protecting himself, when the army started to drop those barrels + Pieck was stopped by Lara Tybur’s Warhammer Titan and not by some random one. The same goes for Galliards (I believe one was Porco and the second one Marcel) attacking Reiner… it feels too personal to be chosen randomly. So I would say she is only observing it all. Although… sure she has seen the whole story, so she would know who to summon, but also Eren is present everywhere all around the world all the time, so he sees them at his back too. Also… she was under Zeke’s command at first, when Eren and Zeke entered the Paths. Because eating one of the daugthers would mean the next titan shifter obtains all 3 of them and so the only way would be to make the inheritors to eat the daugther as she eat her mother (along with her two sisters) or if she died on her own by age for example the titan power finds its new holder randomly among all Eldians alive at the moment and so the power got split either within 2 or 3 and if within two then one of them got to get split this way again. If you think about it is weird that there was a limit for how many times the titan can be split and that it even gets split. Most likely Ymir’s or future Eren’s OR the Attack Titan’s will (as if the Attack Titan wanted to be free so bad that it forced the titans themselve to get split) But because of this being the “ancient times”, where the knowledge of history is not perfect, nobody knows how it all happened, but it explains why the previous titans look so confusing.
